Absynth 6 Marks the Return of a Legendary Soft Synth for a New Generation

Native Instruments revives its iconic semi-modular instrument with modern performance features, AI-powered navigation, and expanded creative depth.

Native Instruments has officially unveiled Absynth 6, bringing back one of electronic music’s most influential soft synths with a fully modernized design. Developed in partnership with original creator Brian Clevinger, the latest version preserves Absynth’s unmistakable identity – evolving textures, hybrid synthesis engine, and cinematic soundscapes – while introducing advanced expressiveness, streamlined browsing, and expanded compatibility for contemporary production environments.

Long admired for its ability to generate entire sonic worlds, Absynth returns with renewed focus, offering musicians an instrument that feels both familiar and entirely new. Absynth 6 stays true to its experimental spirit with an upgraded modular sound engine that blends granular, FM, wavetable, sample-based, and subtractive techniques into a single powerful workflow. Its new Preset Explorer, driven by deep-learning analysis, transforms preset browsing into a visual, intuitive experience, encouraging discovery rather than endless scrolling.

With full MPE support, true multichannel surround capabilities, microtuning through MTS-ESP, and artist presets from visionaries like Brian Eno and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Absynth 6 is built to inspire producers across film scoring, electronic music, ambient sound design, and beyond. The release also arrives with a fresh creative campaign crafted by digital artist Weirdcore and designer Swarmm, reflecting the synth’s reputation for world-building and pushing the boundaries of imagination.

    Key Features of Absynth 6:

    • Hybrid semi-modular engine combining subtractive, FM, granular, wavetable, and sample-based synthesis
    • 68-point envelope generator for intricate, evolving modulation
    • Mutator preset generator offering intelligent sound variations with depth and randomness controls
    • Full MPE and polyphonic aftertouch for per-note expressive control
    • Surround sound & microtuning support including multichannel spatialization and MTS-ESP
    • AI-powered Preset Explorer with a visual timbre-based map for intuitive browsing
    • Creative effects suite featuring Aetherizer, Cloud Filter, and per-effect surround shaping
    • Legacy preset compatibility reaching back to Absynth 1, plus support for Absynth 4 and 5 presets
    • Artist presets from Brian Eno, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, and Richard Devine
