Serato DJ 4.0 Officially Launches Following Successful Public Beta

Major community-requested updates arrive, delivering Serato’s most intuitive and customizable DJ library yet.

Serato has officially rolled out Serato DJ 4.0, the highly-anticipated update shaped directly by community input throughout its public beta. Designed to enhance workflow, organization, and overall usability, the release introduces a refreshed library experience that gives DJs faster, more flexible ways to prep, manage, and perform.

During the beta phase, DJs across all skill levels contributed feedback that Serato then integrated into the final version – further continuing the brand’s mission to build creative tools informed by the DJs who use them.

Serato DJ 4.0 debuts with a wide range of user-requested improvements, including expanded layout options, deeper crate customization, improved file management, and new organizational tools that make navigating large libraries faster and more intuitive than ever before. With enhanced flexibility, integrated streaming options, and more ways to customize your workspace, Serato DJ 4.0 represents one of the most significant updates for DJs in years.

Key Features of Serato DJ 4.0 include:

    • Flexible Panel Layouts: Prepare, History, and Browse panels can now be displayed horizontally or vertically for a more customizable workspace.
    • Spotify Integration: Connect a Spotify Premium account to access and mix millions of tracks directly within Serato DJ 4.0.
    • New Slip Release Feature*: Adds adjustable release time when using Slip Mode for more dynamic scratching techniques. (*Slip Release and Crate Search not available in Serato DJ Lite 4.0.)
    • Enhanced Crate Tools: Search crates instantly, sort them alphabetically, by creation date, or custom order, and assign crate colors for quicker visual navigation.
    • Track Rating & Metadata Tools: Rate tracks (including emoji support), view detailed crate info like track count and total duration, and relocate missing files with improved accuracy).
    • Improved Streaming Support: Add streaming tracks directly to Serato crates without switching between platforms.
    • Right-Click Menu Enhancements: Access new and familiar actions more quickly for both tracks and crates, including “Show Track in Crates,” favorites sorting, and more.
    • Advanced Analysis Options: Auto-analyze BPM, key, and metadata on import—and now analyze tracks without disconnecting hardware.
    • Refined File Management: Safely eject external drives within Serato, relocate files more reliably, and customize album art column size for better library visibility.

Two-time GRAMMY-nominated producer and DJ Scram Jones shared with Serato staff at Playlist Retreat that he is “excited that we’ll be able to search through the crates without having to get out of the crates. The organization, the alphabetical, we’re always looking through random crates and it’s always a mission on the fly. I like the emojis you can put next to it to highlight it even more. The crate organization is definitely going to be helpful, for sure.”

Serato DJ 4.0 made its in-person debut at the brand’s Playlist Retreat, hosted at DJ Jazzy Jeff’s home in Delaware, where top-tier DJs previewed the redesigned library firsthand. With many of the updates rooted directly in long-requested feature upgrades, the buzz and excitement surrounding Serato DJ 4.0 is a significant step forward for DJs, especially with regards to speed, clarity, efficiency, and greater creative control.
