This week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday DJ spotlight, presented by QSC, shines on DJ Wendy Walker from Anaheim, California.
DJ Wendy Walker is this week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday spotlight. Presented by QSC, Wendy is a mobile DJ based out of Anaheim, California. Mobile DJs often talk about versatility, but for Wendy Walker, that term barely scratches the surface. A lifelong music enthusiast who immersed herself in both the creative and technical sides of performance from an early age, Walker has built a career around adaptability, professionalism, and a deep understanding of how to shape each event around her clients’ vision.
Whether behind the decks or stepping up to the mic as a live performer, she approaches every celebration with the same goal: creating meaningful moments through music. That flexibility extends beyond playlists into production choices, gear selection, and even family life, which is closely interwoven with her performance schedule. Walker balances the demands of travel, setup, and execution with the joy of collaborating musically with her children and supporting a household immersed in the arts. For her, mobile DJing isn’t just a job – it’s an ever-evolving craft that blends artistry with technology.

When DJ LIFE spoke with Walker regarding all things mobile DJ, here’s how it went down…
DJ LIFE: What does being a mobile DJ mean to you?
Wendy Walker: I remember starting out very young, being an absolute music nerd, wanting to learn everything there is to know about the business. I learned early on, it’s about being professional, knowledgeable in not only music but the technical side, and honest in knowing you can cater to what the client wants. I love that every event is different. I enjoy bringing people happiness through music. I love what I do and am so thankful for each and every opportunity that comes my way!
DJ LIFE: Can you tell us about your current DJ set up?
Walker: As technology changes, it’s important to keep up to date with the latest equipment. Along with being a DJ, I am also a musician and singer. Each event requires a different setup, but my QSC K12 speakers are a must-have! I have two white QSC K12s and love the pure, clean sound and look. Whether I am DJing or singing, I can be assured the sound quality will be incredible. While visiting the NAMM Show this year, I saw the new CB10 battery-powered speaker and I’m super excited to order one. My DJ boards vary depending on the venue and client needs, but with mobile events I tend to use my smaller and more portable boards. My favorite mic for singing has got to be Ear Trumpet Labs. I have the Myrtle and just love it!
DJ LIFE: What would your ideal setup consist of?
Walker: My perfect setup for DJing would include my two QSC KC12s, a CB10 monitor, a solid DJ board like the Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLEX10 or a newer AlphaTheta version. For singing, a perfect setup is my same QSC KC12s, a CB10 monitor, a QSC mixer, along with my Ear Trumpet Labs mics.
DJ LIFE: What are some of the biggest pros and cons of being a mobile DJ?
Walker: Pros are endless! Seeing the smile on faces when you play their favorite song. Accepting the jobs that work for you and your schedule, meeting new clients and creating an amazing event for them, the list goes on and on! Cons for me are the possible long travel times, setup and tear-down can be a lot, but hey, what a workout! The stress of making sure everything will be perfect can take a toll, but if you trust in yourself (and your equipment!), put in the work, and allow yourself to be in the moment and enjoy, everything will work out and you’ll have fun as well! Weather can be a big con while loading in and out, or working outside. Luckily I have an incredible team that helps!
DJ LIFE: How has being a DJ impacted your personal/family life?
Walker: Well, holidays are different for sure! We usually celebrate early or late to accommodate everyone’s schedule. My sons, Julian and Adrian, are actually my bandmates. I feel every gig we play is a chance to spend time with them and grow and learn as musicians. My daughter, Willow, is an artist and photographer. Attending her exhibits, I can see and appreciate the hard work and talent that goes into each event. My husband, Chris, volunteers as a performer with the Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach, so there’s always an upcoming event being planned or performed with my family!
DJ LIFE: Do you have any DJ-related pet peeves?
Walker: Not really pet peeves, but know when the job is not a fit and pass it to someone who has better knowledge in creating a successful event for the client. Also, know your worth and believe in yourself! Remember you are there to make the event incredible, not to boost your ego. Every day I am amazed that I have the opportunity to do this for a living!
