This week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday DJ spotlight shines on Stacie Hawk Carroll a/k/a DJ Stacie, from Johnson City, Tennessee.
From musician to full-time mobile DJ, Stacie Hawk Carroll, best known as DJ Stacie, has built a career grounded in passion, adaptability, and hard-earned experience. A lifelong musician with a love for singing, writing music, and playing multiple instruments, Stacie found her way into DJing somewhat unexpectedly.
What started as a way to fill time during her band’s set breaks eventually evolved into a full-fledged career when a wedding planner asked her to DJ a wedding. The transition from band member to solo DJ opened a door to a new artistic path – one that has become her true calling.
Now a dedicated mobile DJ, Stacie is constantly refining her craft and pushing boundaries. From mastering the art of mixing to investing in a sleek all-white gear setup, she’s built an identity around professionalism, preparedness, and a love for entertaining. But it’s not all glamour – Stacie understands the grind behind the scenes and the toll it can take on family life. Even still, her journey reflects a strong belief in going with the flow and staying sharp for anything the job throws her way.

When DJ LIFE spoke with DJ Stacie regarding all things mobile DJ, here’s how it went down…
DJ LIFE: How did you get started as a DJ?
DJ Stacie: I’ve always loved music and have been a musician my whole life, playing a variety of instruments, singing, and writing music. I bought DJ software to make mix CDs to play while our band took breaks during shows at the bars/clubs. The band broke up, but the DJing took off after a wedding planner contacted to book the band for a wedding. From there, DJing became my musical interest. And after a few years, I really dived into the art of mixing, and DJing and turned it into a full-time career.
DJ LIFE: Can you tell us about your current DJ setup?
DJ Stacie: I use EV-50s, Bose L1s, a Roland DJ-808 and Pioneer DDJ-SR2, and Bunn Booth command center.
DJ LIFE: What would your perfect or dream setup look like?
DJ Stacie: I love my all-white set up, but would like it updated. But ultimately my dream would be to have someone else take care of all of my equipment for me, and I just focus on DJing. haha
DJ LIFE: Do you have any DJ-related pet peeves?
DJ Stacie: When people think you only work the hours of the event. I’m working constantly, and there’s so much that leads up to each one. The actual event is just a piece.
DJ LIFE: How has being a DJ impacted your personal/family life?
DJ Stacie: It’s been good and bad. Have missed a lot by being gone many Saturdays out of the year. But have also met some amazing people, as well. Pretty much anyone I’m close to is a DJ.
DJ LIFE: What is the most important life lesson you have gained from your experience as a DJ?
DJ Stacie: Plan for spontaneity. It’s always nice to be prepared and think thoroughly through everything you need to do your best job, but you ultimately never know what is going to happen. Be able to roll with the punches, without going in blind.
