This week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday DJ spotlight, presented by QSC, shines on DJ Juan Castro of Invisible Touch Events.

Juan Castro is this week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday spotlight. Presented by QSC, Juan Castro of Invisible Touch Events has made a name for himself in Orange and Los Angeles counties in California.

For over a decade, Juan Castro has been taking the entertainment and mobile DJ world by storm. As a true open format DJ, Juan quickly made a name for himself in Orange and LA counties in California, where he now works as part of Invisible Touch Events.

As a mobile DJ, Juan has earned a flawless reputation, with an impressive resume that boasts his work alongside more than 20 corporate clients for conventions, summits, and seminars. Castro was a Disney resident DJ/emcee, DJ resident at Knott’s Berry Farm Theme Park, over 1000 weddings, and high-profile celebrities and professional athletes. But that’s not all for Juan, who has also worked over 500 special events over the course of his mobile DJ career, including Pre-Oscar, Espy, GRAMMY, Netflix, fashion, and charity events, and more. When it comes to venues, Castro has played at notable hotspots, including The Ritz Carlton Resorts, Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, CA, Beverly Hills Hotel, SLS Hotels, Santa Monica’s Casa del Mar, The London in West Hollywood, and many more.

Over his 13+ years with Invisible Touch, Juan has worked with many high-profile clients, including (but not limited to) Disney, Google, PayPal, Paramount Studios, Universal Studios, Louis Vuitton, Hilton Hotels, House of Blues, Fox Studios, Nyx Professional Makeup, Citi Bank, Hyundai, and celebrity chef Guy Fieri, among others.

When DJ LIFE spoke with DJ Juan Castro regarding all things mobile DJ, here’s how it went down…

DJ LIFE: What does being a mobile DJ mean to you?

Juan Castro: For me, being a mobile DJ is first and foremost about service. It’s about showing up on demand to provide exactly what the client needs—whether that’s a high-energy dance party, a vibrant atmosphere, or providing the perfect vibe for a special event. While anyone can call themselves a mobile DJ, I believe it’s about quality. It’s about curating moments with precision, bringing intention to every beat, and making sure every event feels uniquely crafted and unforgettable.

Being a mobile DJ is not just a job; it’s a craft, a passion, and a way of life. It’s about more than playing music—it’s about being a project manager, a host, a vibe creator, and a sound artist all at once. When I step into a space, I have the ability to feel and read the energy, then transform that space with sound—just as an artist paints a canvas. It’s about delivering the right mood and energy for every moment, while balancing creativity with the client’s vision. Whether it’s a wedding, a corporate event, or a social gathering, I provide the soundtrack to the moments that matter.

This role holds me to a higher standard—not just in my work, but in how I live my life. It’s like a giant pie with many slices—each one representing a different skill or responsibility. From understanding the client’s vision and managing logistics to crafting the perfect playlist and establishing an emotional connection through music, every aspect matters. It’s about balancing creativity with professionalism, adaptability with preparation, and energy with precision. Being a mobile DJ means wearing many hats, but at its core, it’s about delivering an experience that resonates and lingers long after the music stops.

DJ LIFE: How did you get started as a DJ?

Castro: Music has always been a part of me. Growing up in a big family, our gatherings were filled with music—whether it was parties or casual weekends, my parents always set the tone by bringing out the stereo speakers and CDs. Music wasn’t just background noise; it was the heartbeat of those moments and became embedded in who I am.

When I was 18, I worked for Contemporary Services Corporation as event security, and one of the events I worked was the Electric Daisy Carnival at the Los Angeles Coliseum and Exposition Park. That’s where I saw DJ AM perform for the first time, and it completely changed my life. From the moment he opened with some scratch patterns, I was hooked. I didn’t fully understand what I was witnessing at the time—I didn’t even know much about DJs or their craft. But seeing DJ AM manipulate sound, tempo, rhythm, and energy while moving an entire crowd left me mesmerized.

That performance sparked an obsession. I dove headfirst into learning everything I could about DJing. I told myself, “This is my next chapter—this is what I want to do.” Shortly after, I was lucky enough to attend and graduate from a full-semester Mobile DJ course with Invisible Touch Events. That experience marked the beginning of my journey. At the time, I knew nothing about mixing or music programming, but I was determined to learn.

I started practicing on CDs using a Pioneer CMX-500 and DJM-300 mixer, spending countless hours teaching myself how to beatmix. Once I got the basics down, I upgraded to a pair of Technics 1200 MK1s and a Serato box, and my passion only deepened. Over the years, I sought out every opportunity to learn and grow. I took courses at Scratch DJ Academy in Los Angeles, worked with mentors like Mr. Choc and DJ Revolution, and pursued music and production course work at Icon Collective.

For the past 15 years, I’ve been dedicated to mastering the fundamentals of DJing. I’ve worked hard to build a solid foundation, and in many ways, I feel like this is just the beginning. That passion ignited by an unforgettable experience continues to drive me, and I’m grateful for every step of the journey that’s brought me to where I am today.

DJ LIFE: What is the most important life lesson you have gained from your experience as a DJ?

Castro: The life lessons I’ve gained from my experience as a DJ are countless. It’s been a powerful vehicle for personal evolution and growth. Some key takeaways that come to mind:

First, everything starts in your head before it becomes reality. The mindset you carry is essential to creating success. I’ve learned that things will usually go well if you’re properly prepared. When you hone your craft and show up ready to perform, the results follow. My love for DJing is undeniable—you have to be the best at what you do and let your work speak for itself.

I’ve come to understand that the world is full of energy, and by tapping into it, we can transform our surroundings. Sound, in particular, has the ability to manipulate, shape, and change the energy in any space. It’s like tuning into a frequency on a radio—music has the power to align us with different vibrations.

I’ve also realized that we have a choice in how we age: we can either age like fine wine or allow ourselves to go to waste. As the steward of my own life, I choose to be my most authentic self and to focus on constant growth. Your vibe attracts your tribe, and surrounding myself with people I admire has played a significant role in my development.

Health is wealth—balance is key. To be the best version of myself physically, mentally, and spiritually, I need to show up at my best for my clients and events. We are vessels, and by taking care of ourselves, we allow a higher power to work through us.

And above all, the most important lesson I’ve learned is this: Have fun! Life is meant to be enjoyable, and the energy we bring to everything we do shapes the experience for everyone around us.

DJ LIFE: Can you tell us about your current DJ setup?

Castro: My DJ setup varies depending on the size of the space, but generally, I use a reliable configuration that ensures great sound quality and flexibility. For speakers, I typically go with 2 QSC K12.2s paired with 2 QSC KS118 subs for a full, balanced sound. My DJ controller is the Pioneer Rev 7, which gives me the precision and control I need for a dynamic performance. I also use a Shure QLXD wireless microphone for clear, reliable audio during announcements and performances.

DJ LIFE: Do you have any favorite or new gear that you’re currently using?

Castro: I’m really excited about the new QSC K column system. It’s absolutely incredible! The sound quality and design are game changers. You have to experience it for yourself! I can’t wait to use it in future gigs.
