RÜFÜS DU SOL ‘Inhale / Exhale’ Marks Stellar Return for Electronic Trio

The electronic supergroup returns with their latest 15-track studio album today (Fri., Oct. 11) through Rose Avenue Records/Reprise Records.

RÜFÜS DU SOL returns with their long-awaited fifth studio album, Inhale / Exhale, available now (Friday, Oct. 11) through Rose Avenue Records/Reprise Records. With their latest project, the electronic music trio proves they’ve still got it – and then some.

The 15-track LP begins with the ethereal “Inhale,” an intro that entrances listeners in just under two minutes. Seamless transitions from the start, “Inhale” smoothly glides into track 2 – and previously released single – “Lately.”

“Breathe” serves up a thumping bassline coupled with soaring vocals and mesmerizing synths ahead of the album’s lead single, “Music Is Better.” The uplifting trend continues with the airy and progressive “Levitating,” followed by LP highlight and standout track, “Break My Love.”

Giving fans teasers leading up to the announcement of the full-length record, RÜFÜS then dropped several album singles, however, they left more than plenty of the record for listeners to bask in upon release day. Could some of the best tracks on the album have been waiting until release day to be unlocked? Absolutely.

Keeping some of the best songs in the vault until today, on tracks like “In The Moment,” the guys deliver a powerful and anthemic organic house meets big room techno and trance tune. The guys slow things down on the emotionally charged “New York,” swiftly their polished and matured signature RDS sound on “The Life” and “Pressure.”

“Fire / Desire” is certain to be a set highlight, and during your listen will likely be transported to an imaginary RDS live set, while “Edge of the Earth” is haunting in the best possible way. As Inhale / Exhale begins its wrap-up, the hauntingly beautiful “Standing at the Gates” is the album’s electronic ballad, followed by the groovy “Belong” before coming to a full-circle close with the exhilarating “Exhale.”

“This record is very special to us. We’re incredibly proud of it and of what it represents for us as a group. We wrote a lot of music together for this project, and decided early on that we were trying to create something more expansive than we have previously shared. It’s crazy to think we’ve been collaborating on this project together for almost fifteen years, to know that we’re five albums deep now and we’re as excited about making music together now as when we started. Shout out to all the fans who support us, this collaboration wouldn’t be possible without you.” – RÜFÜS DU SOL

Inhale / Exhale follows the groups previous four albums, Atlas (2014), Bloom (2016), SOLACE (2018), and Surrender (2021). Since their performance during the debut of Coachella’s Quasar stage, RÜFÜS DU SOL has been teasing their latest musical era. If consistency remains key for the group, then one thing’s for certain… with Inhale / Exhale, RÜFÜS DU SOL outdo themselves and surpass expectations.
