The mesmerizing new single and music video are out now and coincide with the announcement of their October album release.
GRAMMY-winning electronic trio RÜFÜS DU SOL has just announced their latest musical endeavor with the upcoming release of their fifth studio album, Inhale / Exhale, set to drop on Oct. 11. The announcement was accompanied by the release of their new single, “Break My Love,” under Rose Avenue/Reprise Records, continuing the anticipation built by earlier singles “Music is Better” and “Lately.”
Inhale / Exhale marks a fresh creative chapter for the band, characterized by a seamless blend of organic and electronic elements. The album promises to explore enduring themes such as romance, heartbreak, euphoria, and despair through mature and expansive soundscapes. This new album follows their 2021 release Surrender, which garnered acclaim with the GRAMMY-winning lead single “Alive.”
The latest track, “Break My Love,” is a testament to the band’s evolved sound and deep musicality. With its warm, uplifting tones, the song is a heartfelt ode to enduring love, with lyrics that resonate with hope and promise: “You can’t break my love, it’s yours to take, we got more to make.” The accompanying music video, directed by Katzki, adds a visual layer to the song’s narrative, featuring the band in a nostalgic heist plot with retro disguises, showcasing their playful and creative artistry.
Since their last album, RÜFÜS DU SOL has not only won a GRAMMY for Best Dance/Electronic Recording in 2022, but also earned significant nominations and their fifth ARIA award. The band has maintained a prominent presence on the global stage, performing at major festivals across Europe and South America and iconic venues in North America, including New York’s Forest Hills Stadium and Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl. They also hosted the second edition of their boutique Sundream Festival in San José del Cabo in 2023 and made a memorable appearance at Coachella’s new Quasar Stage in 2024.
As they gear up for the release of Inhale / Exhale, RÜFÜS DU SOL is set to headline the Portola Festival in San Francisco on Sept. 28. Looking ahead, they are confirmed as the sole electronic headliner for all three South American editions of Lollapalooza 2025, promising more captivating performances that blend their signature sound with immersive visual storytelling.
