The New Jersey-born DJ and producer leaves behind a four-decade legacy, a catalog of influential house music anthems, and a global community of artists and fans.
The dance music community is mourning the loss of Cevin Fisher, the internationally acclaimed New Jersey-born DJ, producer, and artist who passed away peacefully on October 29, 2026, following a brief battle with cancer. Just days after celebrating his birthday, Fisher leaves behind his wife, children, family, and friends, along with more than four decades of music that helped shape house music and connect dance floors around the world.
Born Kevin Fisher in East Orange, New Jersey, he developed a passion for music early, earning his first DJ residency at Club Zanzibar at just 17 years old. His journey eventually led to a celebrated production career, with releases and remixes including “House Is A Feeling,” “Hands On Love,” “(You Got Me) Burning Up,” and the enduring club anthem “The Freaks Come Out.”
His work earned the respect of DJs, labels, and fans across generations, while his distinctive sound and infectious rhythms became part of house music’s global story. Beyond the booth and studio, Fisher was remembered by those close to him for his kindness, humor, and warm personality. He is survived by his wife, Theresa; his children, Stephanie, Cindi, Nikko, and Tiffany; his stepsons, Jose and Tomas; and his siblings, Roslyn, Rene, Rodney, and Ronold, as well as his niece, Nicole.
From his early days in N.J. to dance floors around the world, Fisher remained passionate about music and the people who embraced it. His legacy will continue through the records, remixes, and memories he leaves behind, and through the generations of DJs and producers who found inspiration in his work.
“A yo party people, we got to keep this thing going!”
