Reuters recently reported that The Knot Worldwide has agreed to buy its smaller peer Zola, adding to its portfolio of leading wedding-planning brands.
Implications for the wedding-DJ industry are obvious and, for our first take on the subject, our columnist Brian Lawrence offers some perspective:
When I read this week that The Knot Worldwide had agreed to buy Zola, my first thought was how it would affect the venue owners, photographers, DJs and planners I talk with every week, many of them Zola vendors, and how many of them pay for space on both.
Let me walk through what actually happened, what I think it means for you, and the alternative visibility strategies I’d focus on to help couples find you directly.
The short answer: If you are a Zola vendor, nothing changes until the deal closes. Over time, I expect the vendor side to move under WeddingPro, the same way WeddingWire’s did.
