The opening of its first U.S. standalone store, Roland’s new Manhattan destination blends musical discovery with a broader lifestyle-driven brand experience.
Roland celebrated the grand opening of its first standalone U.S. retail location on October 13, bringing artists, industry figures, and music fans together at Roland Store New York City in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District.
Spanning more than 9,000 square feet, the new flagship brings Roland, BOSS, and Drum Workshop (DW) together under one roof, but the experience extends well beyond a traditional instrument showroom. The store reflects a broader vision for the brands, pairing hands-on access to music technology with an evolving lifestyle identity built around design, culture, and community.
That approach was evident throughout the space, from its distinct product environments to its branded merchandise and overall aesthetic. Rather than presenting everything as a conventional retail display, the flagship gives each corner its own character, offering a glimpse at the different directions Roland and its sister brands can take their visual identity.

Dedicated areas for DJing and dance music, synthesizers, drums, guitars, and pianos sit alongside immersive spaces like the BOSS Cavern and a rotating exhibit celebrating iconic Roland instruments. The merchandise adds another layer to that experience, positioning the brands as part of a wider creative lifestyle, not simply tools musicians use to make music.
Live performances brought the store to life throughout the course of the evening, with sets and appearances spread across the DJ Platform, Piano Show Loft, and Main Stage. Recloose, Prince Paul, Dibia$e, Valencia Grace, Mdou Moctar, Hailey Niswanger, and Eugene “Man-Man” Roberts were among the featured artists, with the one-and-only DJ Jazzy Jeff closing out the night.

The range of performers reflected the breadth of Roland’s influence across electronic music, hip-hop, jazz, pop, and guitar-driven sounds, while putting its instruments and production gear directly into the hands of working artists.
With its doors now open to the public, Roland Store New York City is designed to become an ongoing gathering point for musicians and curious newcomers alike. Free workshops, one-to-one product sessions, vintage instrument experiences, and after-sales training give visitors reasons to return beyond a single shopping trip.
The opening made clear that Roland’s flagship is intended to be more than a place to try out gear – it’s a physical expression of the brand’s next chapter, where music technology, personal style, and creative community meet.
