Novation Introduces FLpad Grid Controllers for FL Studio

The new FLpad and FLpad Mini bring hands-on step sequencing, finger drumming, and melodic performance to Image-Line’s music production software.

Novation has teamed up with Image-Line to introduce FLpad, an 8×8 grid controller designed specifically for FL Studio. Available in full-size FLpad and compact FLpad Mini versions, the new controllers provide direct access to the Channel Rack, giving producers a more tactile way to build beats, sequence melodies, and perform ideas within their projects.

Both models feature 64 RGB-backlit pads, dedicated workflow controls, and customizable layouts through Novation Components. Each controller also includes six months of FL Studio Producer Edition, selected instruments and effects from UVI, GForce, and Klevgrand, and finger-drumming lessons from Melodics.

“We’re proud to partner with Image-Line once again and build on the momentum of FLkey 2 with a new line of hardware controllers. Through our previous collaborations with Image-Line, we’ve gained a deep appreciation for what makes this DAW so beloved of beatmakers. This understanding has led us directly to FLpad — a grid controller made specifically to augment FL Studio’s unique workflows in intuitive and inspiring new ways.” – Mario Buoninfante, Novation Product Manager

    Key Features:

    • FL Studio integration: Control the Channel Rack, trigger samples, and create Patterns directly from the grid.
    • Step sequencing: Build and edit drum patterns, basslines, and melodies for up to four instruments at once.
    • Finger drumming: Dedicated layouts support FPC, Slicex, and Fruity Slicer.
    • Melodic performance: Play basslines, melodies, and chords chromatically or within a selected scale.
    • Pattern and note editing: Create, duplicate, and clear Patterns, edit notes through Graph Editor mode, and adjust the Channel Rack mixer.
    • Dedicated controls: Access transport, recording, undo/redo, sequencer navigation, and other core functions.
    • Custom layouts: Use Novation Components to tailor controls for FL Studio or other compatible software and hardware.
    • Two controller options: Choose full-size FLpad with velocity-sensitive pads or the more portable FLpad Mini.
