Roland Opens U.S. Flagship Store in New York City

New Roland Store New York City brings Roland, BOSS, and DW together with hands-on gear, immersive experiences, workshops, and more in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District.

Roland is bringing its flagship retail experience to the U.S. with the opening of Roland Store New York City, which is set for early October at 414 West 14th Street in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. The new 9,000-plus square-foot destination marks the company’s first standalone retail location in the United States, bringing Roland, BOSS, and Drum Workshop, Inc. (DW) together under one roof.

Designed as more than a traditional retail space, the store will give musicians, DJs, producers, and other creators an opportunity to get hands-on with Roland’s latest instruments and technology while exploring dedicated areas for piano, drums, guitar, synthesizers, dance/DJ, and Roland Cloud. The space will also feature Roland’s premium piano collection, a dedicated DW showroom, a BOSS Cavern for exploring guitar effects and amps, and a rotating exhibit highlighting influential instruments from Roland’s history, beginning with the iconic TR-808 Rhythm Composer.

“New York has long been a place where new sounds, ideas, and creative movements take shape, making it a natural home for Roland’s U.S. flagship store. Roland has always been committed to pushing music forward, and this store gives us a new way to share that spirit with musicians and creators while bringing our global retail experience to one of the world’s most important cultural centers.” – Masahiro Minowa, CEO of Roland Corporation

Coinciding with the experience are free workshops, one-to-one sessions with product specialists, after-sales training, and approachable stations where newcomers can experiment with electronic music, drums, and piano. Adding another layer to the space, Roland Soundscapes is an AI-powered musical system that responds to movement, MIDI input, time of day, and outdoor weather conditions to create an evolving composition unique to each visit.

“Roland Store New York City gives us the opportunity to bring our brands and our people closer to the musicians and creators who make New York such an important part of the global music community. We’re excited to give musicians, producers, and creators in New York a space where they can explore the latest Roland, BOSS, and DW innovations, connect with our team, and be part of a new creative hub for the city.” – Manuele Barbini, CEO of Roland Americas

The opening seamlessly ties into Roland’s Then. Now. Next. campaign and the 10th anniversary of The Future. Redefined., the company’s landmark 2016 livestream that introduced 30 instruments from cities around the world. An invitation-only grand opening celebration is scheduled for October 10, with artists, industry figures, media, and special guests expected to attend. Roland Store New York City will then be open seven days a week from 11am. to 7pm.
