    Gabriele Milone [Mobile Monday Spotlight]

This week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday DJ spotlight, presented by QSC, shines on Gabriele Milone from Terranuova Bracciolini, Italy.

Gabriele Milone is this week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday spotlight. Presented by QSC, Milone is a mobile DJ based out of Terranuova Bracciolini, Italy. Nestled in the Tuscan town of Terranuova Bracciolini, between Florence and the renowned Chianti wine region, Italian mobile DJ Gabriele Milone has steadily built a reputation by combining technical precision with a genuine passion for connecting with people through music.

What began as a hobby with a second-hand all-in-one DJ console eventually evolved into years of experience behind the decks, with analog vinyl mixing laying the foundation for the skills he continues to rely on today. Always looking to improve his performances, Milone recently made significant investments in both his sound system and music library, upgrading to QSC KC12 column speakers, a Pioneer V5 controller, and an entirely uncompressed WAV collection to maximize audio quality.

While he enjoys bringing his personal soundtrack to weddings, private events, and celebrations throughout Italy, he believes the true reward of being a mobile DJ comes from creating lasting memories while constantly adapting to new audiences, venues, and experiences.

DJ LIFE recently caught up with Milone to discuss his journey, favorite gear, dream setup, and what continues to drive his passion for mobile DJing.

DJ LIFE: What does being a mobile DJ mean to you?

Gabriele Milone: For me, being a mobile DJ means having the opportunity to take music anywhere and turn every event into a unique experience. It allows me to enjoy amazing experiences, visit wonderful places, and share what I consider my personal soundtrack with the audience. Music is life and communication; it is the medium through which I can convey emotions and create connections between people.

DJ LIFE: How did you start your DJ career?

Milone: I started just for fun with a small “all-in-one” console I bought second-hand. My passion grew quickly, and about twelve years ago, I began gaining experience with analog mixing on vinyl — a training ground I consider fundamental to my development.

Looking back, it makes me smile to think of the journey I’ve taken: from those early days of practicing out of passion to the opportunity to share my experience in an international magazine today. It brings me immense satisfaction and, at the same time, motivates me to keep growing and improving.

DJ LIFE: Can you tell us about your current DJ setup?

Milone: Over the last few months, I decided to take a major step up by investing in a new professional sound system. I’m currently using QSC KC12 column speakers, which I consider to offer excellent value for money. They are powerful, reliable, and deliver truly extraordinary sound quality.

To get the most out of them, I paired them with a Pioneer V5 and completely upgraded my music library, switching from 320 kbps MP3s to uncompressed WAV files. Systems of this caliber deserve the highest possible quality audio sources, and the difference in live performances was immediately apparent.

DJ LIFE: What would your ideal or dream setup look like?

Milone: I am very satisfied with my current setup, but like any enthusiast, I already have the next step in mind. My ideal setup would include a pair of Pioneer CDJ-3000s and a complete system consisting of four QSC LA108s paired with their corresponding LS118 subwoofers.

I believe a configuration like this represents one of the best balances of sound quality, versatility, and performance available today for a professional mobile DJ.

DJ LIFE: Do you have any favorite or new gear that you’re currently using?

Milone: Without a doubt, my new QSC KC12s are my favorite investment of the past year. Coming from an FBT Vertus system, I’ve been particularly impressed by the clarity, sound pressure, and overall quality they deliver.

Switching to the Pioneer V5 and using WAV audio files has also significantly improved the quality of my performances.

DJ LIFE: What are the main advantages and disadvantages of being a mobile DJ?

Milone: The main advantage is the opportunity to constantly have new experiences. Every event is different, every venue has its own atmosphere, and every audience reacts in a unique way. This makes the job stimulating and never monotonous.

On the downside, however, there is the aspect of handling audience requests. Sometimes people forget the DJ’s creative role and tend to view them as a mere jukebox, which can be frustrating.

DJ LIFE: Is there anything about being a DJ that particularly bothers you?

Milone: Absolutely: being treated like a jukebox.

It often happens that I get outlandish requests at the worst possible moment of the night. I like to please the crowd whenever possible, but I believe part of a DJ’s job is reading the dance floor and building a coherent musical journey. When that aspect is ignored, it can get frustrating.

DJ LIFE: How has being a DJ influenced your personal and family life?

Milone: Being a DJ has become much more than just a job – it is a fundamental part of my identity. Music influences the way I live, communicate, and relate to others.

Moreover, this journey has allowed me to collaborate with people who are important to me, such as photographer and videographer Dimitri Butini and my brother, Giulio Milone, who created the cover image accompanying this presentation.
