Paul Oakenfold Tour Diary Week 7: Paul’s tour continues and he partners with DJ LIFE to offer one lucky fan a chance to win a Perfecto Heritage Jersey.
New York City – We had one day off in L.A. for press and promo on my current single, “Masquerade,” and then we were off to Fort Lauderdale for five shows in five days.
Always had great support in Florida, and it was great to see that the show was sold out mid-week. Good to see some old friends, and I had a chance to play a few new songs from my upcoming album, Mission Underground. The tracks went down really well!
Next day, we flew to Charleston, S.C. – what a beautiful city. Had a chance to look around, eat some local seafood, and completed a wonderful outdoor show. Wish we had some more time in this terrific city.

The next day, we had to take two flights to Rochester, N.Y., which was a long day of traveling. After we touched down, we went straight to the venue for soundcheck, hung out in the greenroom, and then did the show. Sometimes it’s like this when it’s tough to get to another city when you have multiple flights and flights are delayed. It’s a real downside of touring, but the crowd made it worthwhile, as they were really up for it!
On this tour, the crowds have been amazing, embracing new tunes, but loving the classics. Many of these classic tracks I’m playing, like “Bullett in the Gun,” are my remixes of original productions.
After the Rochester gig, we decided for the next couple of shows to do a road trip. We rented a car and drove to Harrisburg, Pa. What a wonderful four-hour drive through the beautiful countryside, taking in the local culture, which in this part of America, are the Amish.
As I understood their culture, I found them very friendly – they couldn’t understand a word I said [lol] – and the food was fresh, local, and wonderful.
We played a great show in Harrisburg, then drove through to Philadelphia on Sunday. In Philly, I met up with some friends, and played more of an underground set, fittingly, at the Underground Arts venue. When I play the big cities, I generally play more underground, and more regional towns I play a bit more commercial. This approach seems to work a lot better. Another great show in Philly, and then I took the train up to New York City for more promo. This week, we will be up in Canada. Hope to see you there, eh!
Track of the Week: Paul Oakenfold x Daxson x RAM’s “RAMsterdam.”
