Paul Oakenfold Tour Diary Week 2: After the conclusion of the first leg of his United Champions tour, follow Oakie on the road to Colombia.

Bogotá, Colombia – After concluding the first leg of the United Champions tour, which included my set at EDC Vegas, I flew to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., this past Thursday evening to meet up with Zach Solov, a dear friend, who joined me for the trip to Colombia.

The next day we met up with my other good buddy, Reef Mowers, and we all flew down to Bogotá. These two old friends have toured the world with me over many years. The last time I was Colombia, I was supporting Madonna in 2012 on her “MDNA Tour.”

The Colombian crowds are incredible and they really love dance music. It’s always a pleasure going there. I really enjoy the food, and after touring many places around the world, I have lots of good friends there.

This time in Colombia, I was headlining the BAUM Festival, and this is the first time I’ve played this great event. It was very organized, very thorough, and a great crowd. I closed the main stage, and ended the night at 3 a.m.

Before my set, we went and saw Underworld play – what a great show! They did the classic “Born Slippy,” which was one of my favorite remixes I did back in the day.

The next day was R&R, one day to chill and meet some other old friends and go to dinner. The next day, I had an early flight back to London for some studio time and to see my mum. What a great weekend! Thanks, Colombia!

Next Up for the United Champions Tour: A quick West Coast weekend run in Portland and San Francisco with The Crystal Method. Stay tuned!

Track of the Weekend: “Bullet in the Gun” by Paul Oakenfold x Sneijder.
