Gary Richards aka Destructo has announced the final sail of his iconic adventures at sea after 14 years.
Following more than a decade of unforgettable voyages, Gary Richards, better known as Destructo, is preparing to take his beloved Shipfam on one last adventure at sea. The iconic FRIENDSHIP cruise will embark on its Final Transmission from January 18–22, 2026, sailing from Miami to Great Stirrup Caye in The Bahamas for four days of music, connection, and unforgettable memories.
Richards first made a splash in 2012 when he launched Holy Ship! in partnership with Cloud 9 and Bowery Presents, creating a brand-new kind of festival experience that combined world-class electronic music with the freedom and community of the open ocean. In 2018, he reimagined that concept with FRIENDSHIP, a cosmic continuation that carried thousands of voyagers –affectionately known as Shipfam – across 20 ships and over 50,000 miles of dance-fueled adventures.
“Almost fourteen years ago, I had a vision to create something different, special, and out of this world,” said Richards. “As a result of that, the SHIPFAM was born, a reoccurring group of people who would meet annually to travel with us. Our voyagers became a family, one that has shared moments that surpass the test of time and that feel like they’ll echo forever. Maybe this is the last one… or maybe it’s just the beginning of something new as we embark on this final Transmission.”
The Final Transmission is setting out to make waves as a celebration worthy of FRIENDSHIP’s legacy – four full days of music, immersive theme parties, and two days on a private island in the Bahamas. It’s a farewell voyage that embodies the unity, creativity, and connection that defined the Shipfam spirit.
