On October 18, 2025, music lovers worldwide will pause the scroll and celebrate the ritual of listening.
Discogs, the leading music discovery and record-collecting platform, has announced Dis/Connect, a new global initiative designed to encourage dance music fans to step away from screens and immerse themselves in music.
Taking place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, the event invites listeners everywhere to silence digital noise and rediscover the power of focused listening. And whether that means dropping the needle on a vinyl classic, spinning a favorite album from start to finish, or curating a mood-driven setlist to enjoy without distraction.
Dis/Connect is open to all – artists, labels, hi-fi bars, record stores, and collectors alike – making it a community-driven day of connection over consumption. Some may choose to host intimate listening parties, while others might even find joy in solitary spins at home. However it’s experienced, the event is a reminder of music’s purest form – undivided attention, shared energy, and the timeless act of getting lost in sound.
“Imagine a moment where collectors everywhere log off, grab some records, and just listen,” says Kevin Lewandowski, Discogs’ Founder and CEO. “That’s a powerful moment to share with others who love music as much as we do, whether you’re spinning alone or with friends.”
How to Take Part:
- Spread the word. Share the invitation (available here) with your community so others can join.
- Disconnect. Put the phone down, step away from the computer, and skip the stream for one day.
- Play records. Revisit old favorites, dig deep into your collection, or drop the needle on something new.
- Reflect, then share. If you’d like, post about your experience the next day and tag @discogs.
“In a world drowning in noise, Dis/Connect feels like an act of rebellion,” says Jeffrey Smith, Vice President of Marketing at Discogs. “We’re asking people to step away from their screens, even from Discogs, to remember that feeling of joy that comes from real connection. From community. From the music that makes you feel alive”
