Oliver’s ‘Power Tools: Decades’: Splice Releases Final Installment

The acclaimed producer wraps up his beloved Decades series with an homage to an iconic era of groove-driven production – a nod to the 2000s.

In summer 2023, Splice and chart-topping producer Oliver launched the Power Tools Decades series, a bold follow-up to his widely acclaimed Power Tools sample packs. Known for blending retro flavor with cutting-edge production, the series set out to reimagine iconic drum grooves from the last few decades of pop music. Now, the journey comes full circle with the final installment: Power Tools Decades – 00’s.

Capturing the groove and bounce of early 2000s drum programming, taking cues from production heavyweights like The Neptunes and Timbaland, the sounds of the decade will take you right back. By combining classic rhythms with modern processing, Oliver delivers punchy, dynamic drums tailor-made for today’s music creators.

The series debuted with Decades – 80’s in August 2023, filled with the bold, synthetic drums of the era. That was followed by Decades – 90’s in May 2024, which modernized the raw, genre-defining grooves of a decade that brought hip-hop and house to the mainstream. With the release of Decades – 00’s, Oliver closes this chapter in style – bringing producers another powerful, nostalgia-driven tool for their creative collection.

Few producers have left as big a mark on modern pop and electronic music as Oliver. His work with artists like Katy Perry, Kim Petras, and Nicki Minaj, along with the global popularity of his Power Tools series, has made his samples essential in studios worldwide. Sabrina Carpenter’s GRAMMY-winning, smash-hit “Espresso” was built around Power Tools samples.

“The 2000s had such a distinct rhythm and swagger. I wanted to capture that—but make it hit even harder with today’s tools. For this pack, I leaned into live percussion and foley recording to give it that extra dimension and energy,” says Oliver. “I’m always so blown away with what producers and artists have made with my sounds and loops. I’m very grateful that I’m able to help and inspire other musicians, even in a small way.”

Power Tools: Decades – ‘00s Includes:

    • 177 drum loops
      • 10 clap loops
      • 62 full drum loops
      • 39 stripped drum loops
      • 10 high-hat loops
      • 32 percussion loops
      • 7 shaker loops
      • 17 top loops
    • 124 one-shot samples
      • 18 hi-hats
      • 29 kicks
      • 21 percussion
      • 9 rims
      • 9 snaps
      • 18 snares

While Power Tools Decades – 00’s concludes the trilogy, Oliver remains a vital part of Splice Sounds. “The next project is called Power Tools Presents,” he reveals. “I want to spotlight my favorite sound designers and collaborators. It’s going to be a whole new vibe—and I think producers will really love it.”

Power Tools Decades – 00’s is available now, here.
