    Jason Klock [Mobile Monday Spotlight]

This week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday DJ spotlight, presented by QSC, shines on Jason Klock from Harrisburg, PA.

Jason Klock is this week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday spotlight. Presented by QSC, Klock is a mobile DJ of Klock Entertainment, based out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

There are many components to being a mobile DJ – and often times, some of those areas are overlooked, especially by those who might not be well versed in the profession. As we break down what the job entails, Jason Klock reveals more about his DJ setup, how he was inspired by his grandfather who owned a music store prior to his time, and how to him, DJing is like playing multiple instruments at the same time. Klock also further explains how being a mobile DJ has impacted his personal and family life, he shares his DJ-related pet peeve, and more.

When DJ LIFE spoke with Klock regarding all things mobile DJ, here’s how it went down…

DJ LIFE: Can you tell us about your current DJ setup?

Jason Klock: My current DJ setup and one I have used for a long time, just because I love it includes a custom DJ desk from Germany, a REV7, K12.2s, a K181, Touch Mix 8, and Shure Microphones. I have a rack separate from my DJ desk that holds the Touch Mix, microphones and an internal networking built for lighting.

DJ LIFE: Do you have any DJ-related pet peeves?

Klock: Why do photographers and videographers have to use our area as their storage unit? An entire venue that typically includes closet space and they just store their stuff on top of or in our way just about every wedding!

DJ LIFE: How has being a DJ impacted your personal/family life?

Klock: DJing has impacted my personal/family life by helping me create and make the best of the moments when I am off from DJing. It has really shown me how valuable time is and how fast it goes. When I was working 75+ weddings a year, years would disappear quickly.

DJ LIFE: How did you get started as a DJ?

Klock: I was inspired as a child by my grandfather who owned a music store prior to my time. I started by playing the drums and just couldn’t seem to match with other musicians who loved the business side of things as much as I did. DJing to me is like playing multiple instruments at a time, I gradually started to book more DJ jobs when I was in high school than band gigs so I have just run with this this for as far as I can go!
