Mat Zo Returns to mau5trap With Nostalgic House Revival, “Disco Boy”

The nostalgic and fresh electro house track, “Disco Boy,” is available Sept. 6 through deadmau5’s mau5trap imprint.

Mat Zo makes a compelling return to the electro and progressive house scene with his latest track “Disco Boy,” now spinning on all platforms via mau5trap. The track is a nostalgic nod to the late 2000s, reviving the sound that once dominated the electronic music landscape with a fresh and invigorating twist that resonates with longtime followers of Zo and deadmau5 alike.

“Disco Boy” is crafted with a mesmerizing mix of house beats, integrating intricate layers that showcase Mat Zo’s finesse and innovative edge. The track’s energetic bassline and melodic progressions pay tribute to the classic mau5trap era, inspired by deadmau5’s early works, yet Zo manages to infuse it with modern sensibilities that breathes new life into a beloved sound. It’s a celebration of electronic music’s evolution, bridging past and future in Zo’s unique style.

This release not only encapsulates the essence of what makes mau5trap a seminal name in electronic music but also highlights Mat Zo’s own transformative journey in the industry. From his early days being influenced by a musical family to exploring a myriad of genres that led to his genre-bending debut album, Damage Control, Mat Zo has consistently pushed the boundaries of what electronic music can be. His work, characterized by its complexity and eclecticism, continues to earn acclaim, with a GRAMMY nomination and chart-toppers.

Mat Zo’s influence extends beyond his music; he founded his own label, MAD ZOO, which mirrors his dedication to innovative, genre-less music, and continues to release influential tracks that resonate worldwide. His impact is further solidified by his collaborations with artists like Porter Robinson and remixes for the likes of Halsey and Kylie Minogue.

Fans can experience “Disco Boy” live as Mat Zo embarks on a North American tour this fall and winter. His tour dates include a performance at The Republik in Honolulu on Sept. 27, Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Oct. 4, The Midway in San Francisco on Oct. 5, Royale Boston on Oct. 12, The Ritz Ybor in Tampa on Oct. 19, and 45 East in Portland on Dec. 13.
