Enjoy the August 2024 edition of “Behind the Wedding Music,” a resource to help build wedding playlists for DJs.

Each month we will highlight new songs and include a line of song lyrics, a description of the song’s emotional profile, and a few fun facts — designed to help you advise a wedding couple if they’re looking for something fresh in their playlist.

A few newly released wedding songs from July 2024:

    Yours (A Night in Nashville)

    Post Malone x Bud Light

    July 19, 2024

Even though the song will not be officially released yet, the video was uploaded. It will be a popular father-and-daughter dance song.

Notable Lyrics: “We’ll both love her forever, but I loved her long before / And one day I know I’ll give her away / Buddy, that don’t mean she’s yours”

Fun Facts: The video version was recorded on July 16, 2024, at an event at downtown Nashville’s Marathon Music Works. The song is expected on his upcoming album “F-1 Trillion” to be released on August 16, 2024. During Malone’s “Bud Light’s A Night in Nashville” performance he played two other hits already released “Pour Me A Drink” and “I Had Some Help”.

    I Adore You

    HUGEL, Topic, Arash, Daecolm

    July 19, 2024

A beautiful blend of house music and Afrobeats for a house-like vibe for cocktail hour or when guests arrive at the reception.

Notable Lyrics: “’Cause you know, baby, I adore you, I adore you / Can’t ignore you, can’t ignorе you”

Fun Facts: HUGEL is known for igniting the Latin House movement with his hit “Morenita”. He is a multi-gold and platinum-selling artist with over 1 billion streams and has many of his tracks reaching the #1 spot on Beatport. The song already has nearly 3 million streams on Spotify.

    Smile

    Martin Garrix feat. Carolina Liar

    July 19, 2024

An upbeat song that will put a smile on your face after the vows and exchanged and as the couple exits the building.

Notable Lyrics: “I’ll pick you up when you’re fallin’ down / You can count on me, I’ll be there / Anything to make you smile”

Fun Facts: Within 72 hours of recording the song, the artists embarked on a road trip from Hollywood to Vegas while shooting the music video. Carolina Liar attended two of Martin’s shows and on the third night, Martin sat in with Zedd at Omnia. The finished music video features both artists in a story that has them hitchhiking to make it to their Las Vegas performance on time.

    100 Lives

    Jonas Blue & Eyelar

    July 19, 2024

A song that gains in energy with a peak that would work great as an entrance song into the reception for introductions.

Notable Lyrics: “I could touch the sky / Chase the night with you / I could live and die / A hundred lives with you”

Fun Facts: “100 Lives” started out as a piano instrumental Jonas Blue created randomly after watching the Robbie Williams documentary and felt inspired by his big piano pop sound. Jonas Blue described the song to be about finding your soul mate, someone who you’d be there for no matter what, going through the ups and downs of life together.

    In The Dark

Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Aldae

    July 12, 2024

A definite party anthem for dancing through the night.

Notable Lyrics: “I know that you’ll be my lightning in the dark / Ups, downs, I’ve seen a million now / But I ain’t scared of clouds”

Fun Facts: This is the first-ever collaboration between DJ icons Armin van Buuren and David Guetta. Aldae co-wrote Miley Cyrus’ single “Flowers”. Aldae won two Grammy Awards for “Flowers” for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record Of The Year.

    I Like It

    Alesso, Nate Smith

    July 12, 2024

A country and dance song that is radio-ready for summer vibes.

Notable Lyrics: “She pour another shot and now we goin’ back to back / I asked her if she wanted to dance, she like yeah / Tomorrow’s gonna hurt, baby, I ain’t even mad”

Fun Facts: The music video stars Alesso’s new fiancé and model Erin Michelle Cummins. Smith’s music career all began when his song “Wildfire” went viral on TikTok in 2020. Alesso is currently on tour including a residency in Las Vegas with TAO Group that includes Omnia and Hakkasan.

    No Question

A mid-tempo R&B track to play as a background song during the reception with romantic vibes.

Notable Lyrics: “And I hope you want to be mine / ‘Cause I love me when I’m loving you / No question ’cause I know”

Fun Facts: In two weeks of being released, the music video has nearly 3 million views. Tyga is currently on a world tour but does have several upcoming concert dates in several locations on the Las Vegas Strip. Claudio released her first EP, “Confidently Lost”, independently on SoundCloud.
