Dive Deeper With rekordbox 7.0.0 Release

New learning, cloud, and automation features enable a smoother, more intuitive workflow making it easier for DJs to find and manage music.

AlphaTheta Corporation has just announced the release of rekordbox for Mac/Windows (ver. 7.0.0), a complete DJ software application that integrates everything from music management to live performance capabilities.

This major update to rekordbox, which is used by countless DJs and professionals globally, adds multiple new features to enhance DJ performances. The 7.0.0 update adds software learning, cloud, and automation technology and improves processing loads. The update makes it easier and faster to manage music and search for tracks from the tens of millions available on multiple streaming services or a DJ’s own collection. Additionally, now tracks that users add to a collection can now be automatically filtered by different categories, with cue points automatically set and the option to share playlists.

The latest update also adds a new graphical user interface (GUI), to make music management and gig preparation easier and more intuitive.

    KEY FEATURES

New platform and GUI design bring huge improvements in software performance

    Vastly improved processing load

Whatever needs to be done in rekordbox ver. 7, can be done stress-free. The updated platform has achieved up to 56% reduction in CPU processing load compared to rekordbox ver. 6, so the software runs much smoother. In addition, power consumption during startup has been reduced by 38% compared to rekordbox ver. 6, allowing the PC/Mac to run on battery power for longer periods of time.

Refreshed, smoother GUI for comfortable music preparation

Every single aspect of the new GUI in rekordbox ver. 7 was reviewed carefully and built to help DJs prepare for gigs more efficiently through a comfortable workflow. Fully refreshed, the design takes the best elements from rekordbox ver. 6 so DJs can instantly understand the state of their system, and it brings various enhancements. The key color has changed to blue to enhance the sense of unity with AlphaTheta and Pioneer DJ hardware, and both Dark and Light mode offer better usability thanks to the clearer grouping of controls and improved waveform visibility.

New browsing system efficiently finds music you want from a wide range of sources

    Media Browser

The latest update helps DJs quickly find the right music to play. The Media Browser has changed from a tree view to an icon view to make it faster to access tracks while scouring various sources.

New browsing experience when using streaming services

Tracks can now be displayed from streaming services with a focus on the artist’s image and album artwork for a more intuitive, visual browsing experience. DJs simply click on one of the links for an album or playlist, such as the artist’s name or label, to view a list of related songs and find more music in the styles they like.

    Collection Filter

DJs will quickly find tracks in their collection regardless of the file size with the new Collection Filter –. Filter songs by date, genre, artist, or album.

Two Radar functions using software learning technology

Collection Radar unearths tracks from within a user’s music collection, helping DJs to rediscover old favorite songs. To help DJs prepare to play at a particular type of venue or event, they can tell rekordbox the tracks and filters to match, and the software will recommend similar songs in a DJ’s collection.

Streaming Radar navigates new encounters with tracks from streaming services. It pulls results from among tens of millions of songs and can even search for tracks across multiple streaming services, helping DJs to add undiscovered floor fillers to their collection and find the tracks to make each playlist perfect.

A new era for DJ workflows: software learning and automation tech significantly reduces prep time

    Intelligent Cue Creation

When DJs add a track to their rekordbox collection, the software will automatically set up Hot Cues and Memory Cues according to their preferences. Songs with Hot Cue and Memory Cue settings are registered in a playlist for learning. rekordbox ver.7 software automatically learns trends, so the usual cue point positions are automatically reflected in other songs, making advance preparation much easier.

    Dual Player layout

Quickly check the compatibility of tracks and find the best mix points using Dual Player layout, now available in Export mode. The operations of 2 players are linked when Dual Player is turned on via the dedicated button, allowing DJs to play/pause, move through waveforms, and control Beat Jump for both tracks simultaneously. And with EQ Kill, Key Sync, and Key Shift control, there are even more ways to experiment with different tracks to make them sound perfect together.

    Column View

Rekordbox ver. 7 uses a Column view similar to the column view in the Mac Finder app. This hierarchical structure enables DJs to browse playlists and folders while visually checking their hierarchy, offering an intuitive way to search for folders and files, and to select and navigate through multiple playlists and tracks.

    Collaborative Playlist

DJs can share playlists with friends and DJ peers.  Metadata, such as the order of songs in the list, BPM, grids, and cue points, can be included*, allowing DJs to share information for a wide range of purposes, including preparing for back-to-back sets or considering set lists for festivals.

*If DJs share a playlist that includes tracks from a streaming service, anyone who wants to use the playlist will need a subscription for the same streaming service. If DJs share a playlist containing tracks stored locally on their PC/Mac, the tracks won’t be available to the other collaborator until they purchase the music themselves.

Owner registration enables free control of selected new features in rekordbox ver. 7

The Dual Player layout, Collection Filter, Column View, and other paid features added in this update are available free of charge when DJ equipment eligible for owner registration is registered to an AlphaTheta account via rekordbox ver. 7. Once registered as an owner, these functions can be used even if the DJ equipment is not connected to a PC/Mac.

Visit the official rekordbox website for the software’s specifications, features available in each plan, and other functions at rekordbox.com.
