Enjoy the March 2024 edition of “Behind the Wedding Music,” a resource to help build wedding playlists for DJs.

Each month we will highlight new songs and include a line of song lyrics, a description of the song’s emotional profile, and a few fun facts — designed to help you advise a wedding couple if they’re looking for something fresh in their playlist.

A few newly released wedding songs from February 2024:

    We Are One

    3 Are Legend, Bryn Christopher

    February 23, 2024

An electronic song with a message made for a wedding dance floor or as an upbeat exit song.

Notable Lyrics: “We are one / We are golden / Getting lost among the stars but we got us”

Fun Facts: 3 Are Legend is an electronic dance music supercollab of good friend DJs Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and American DJ Steve Aoki. The super group’s biggest hit thus far is their 2019 hit “Khaleesi”. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are on tour now with European dates.

    Space In My Heart

    Enrique Iglesias, Miranda Lambert

    February 22, 2024

I love unexpected collaborations and this love song hits the mark for any wedding.

Notable Lyrics: “If you only felt half of what I feel / If you ever go, I will never change / There’s a space in my heart and it’s just your shape”

Fun Facts: “Enrique Iglesias reimagines his 2022 single “Espacio en tu Corazón” but re-released it in English as a duet with Miranda Lambert. Enrique’s father, Julio, collaborated with Willie Nelson in 1984 on the #1 Hot Country Songs hit “To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before”.

    LAST OF US

    Gryffin & Rita Ora

    February 16, 2024

This is a hype song to play as an entrance song or for dancing.

Notable Lyrics: “I will fight for your love / I would kill, I would die / Even if we run out of time / Baby, it’s not the last of us”

Fun Facts: Gryffin has many show dates in Canada and the U.S. including residencies at the Wynn property in Las Vegas and an appearance at EDC in Vegas in May. Gryffin has more than 7 million monthly listeners on Spotify with 7 tracks with more than 100 million listens. Gryffin shared his complete show at Red Rocks in 2023.

    LOVE NEVER FELT LIKE THIS

    MAX

    February 16, 2024

The perfect background vibe for when reception doors open or while the meal is being served.

Notable Lyrics: “And I promise, I’m no angel / But I always will be faithful / From this moment ’til the last day of my life”

Fun Facts: Max was named an iHeart 2019 Best New Pop Artist nominee, and labeled a number one Emerging Artist by Billboard. MAX’s biggest hit thus far is his “Lights Down Low” released in 2016. However, other big hits include “Blueberry Eyes”, and “Love Me Less”.

    Powerful Women

    Pitbull, Dolly Parton

    February 15, 2024

Two legends collaborate with a sampling of Dolly’s “9 to 5” with a Latin dance flare.

Notable Lyrics: “Put your hands to the sky / This goes out to the women / Working hard 9 to 5”

Fun Facts: The track honors single moms, working women, and other powerful ladies. When Dolly and Pitbull met, she joked “You know I’m Ms. Worldwide, right?”. “9 to 5” was released in 1980 and won a Grammy for “Best Country Song”.

    Feels Right (I Love It)

    Flo Rida & Brian Kelley

    February 14, 2024

Flo Rida never disappoints and this is a can’t miss party hit Hip Hop and country crossover.

Notable Lyrics: “And she say she know it’s wrong, but it feel right when she does it / I like it, I love it, I want some more of it”

Fun Facts: The song samples Tim McGraw’s 1995 hit “I Like It, I Love It”. Kelley is a member of the country duo Florida Georgia Line. The next day Pitbull released the song “Get Get Get Down” which also samples McGraw’s “I Like It, I Love It”. Coincidence?

    TEXAS HOLD ‘EM

    Beyoncé

    February 11, 2024

This is a fun dance song with choreographed dance moves.

Notable Lyrics: “Ooh, one step to the right / We headin’ to the dive bar we always thought was nice / Ooh, run me to the left / Then spin me in the middle, boy, I can’t read your mind”

Fun Facts: “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Beyoncé’s 13th number-one song on the chart and her 9th as a solo artist. Additionally, the song debuted atop the Hot Country Songs chart, making Beyoncé the first Black woman with a number-one country song in Billboard history.

    Get Lower

    Steve Aoki & Lil Jon

    February 9, 2024

“Get Lower” is a remake of Lil Jon’s mega-hit “Get Low” with a Crunk and electronics crossover.

Notable Lyrics: “Lemme see you get low (you scared, you scared) / Drop that *** to the floor (you scared, you scared)”

Fun Facts: Did you know that Steve’s dad is the founder of the Japanese cuisine restaurant chain Benihana? The original “Get Low” was released 21 years ago! Aoki is also trying to breathe new life into Yellowcard’s “Ocean Avenue” with a remake on its 20th anniversary.

    Never Be Lonely

    Jax Jones, Zoe Wees

    February 9, 2024

This is an electronic hit to get dancers pumped during a reception dance set with the feel of 90s dance music.

Notable Lyrics: “With my hands in the air, I’ll make enough / To always stay by your side / I will be there on your darkest night / I’m here ’til the day that I die”

Fun Facts: Jones collaborates with The Pokémon Company as Pikachu stars in the music video. He has more than 14 million monthly followers on Spotify with “You Don’t Know Me” with more than 600 million listens! Zoe Wees hails from Germany and is currently on tour with shows through mid-2024 only in Europe.

NOTHING NEW (I DO) – Wedding Version

    Brandon Lake

    February 5, 2024

A love song made to be played during a wedding ceremony.

Notable Lyrics: “Here is my heart in just one phrase / I love you, I love you, I love you / When I say it, I mean it, it’s true”

Fun Facts: Brandon has won 5 Grammy awards in the Gospel Contemporary Christian Music genres. “Nothing New” is on his album ‘Coat of Many Colors’. However, Lake rewrote some of the lyrics to make it a love song dedicated to his wife Brittany.
