    Enjoy the February 2023 edition of “Behind the Wedding Music,” a resource to help build wedding playlists for DJs. Each month we will highlight new songs and include a line of song lyrics, a description of the song’s emotional profile, and a few fun facts — designed to help you advise a wedding couple if they’re looking for something fresh in their playlist.

    I am starting off Valentine’s month with a beautiful love song!

    Notable Lyrics: “Will you love me, love me, love me, love me / Forever, forever and always”

    Fun Facts: MAJOR. Performed the song on The Kelly Clarkson Show at the GRAMMY Museum at the beginning of February. His other lovers’ favorite is now Certified Platinum titled “Why I Love You”.

     

    TRUSTFALL

    P!nk

    The song is an ode to trusting in your faith and overcoming your fears.

    Notable Lyrics: “What if we just fall / I’m not going without you / And you’re not going alone / I fell so far ’til I found you”

    Fun Facts: The song will be featured on her 10th studio album titled Trustfall. P!nk’s Summer Carnival Tour kicks off in June in the U.K. Looking forward to lots of acrobatics while singing!

     

    Who We Love

    Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran

    A love song stating the universe decides who we fall in love with.

    Notable Lyrics: “The universe has pulled us closer / I trust whatever’s brought me here to you / You can never lose / If love is what you feel then”

    Fun Facts: Even though both artists are British, this is their first collaboration on a track. The song is featured on Smith’s new album Gloria and is the final track. History was made at the 2023 Grammy Awards when the song “Unholy” won Best Pop Duo/Group Collaboration for Sam Smith and Kim Petras – the first trans woman to win a Grammy.

    A song that helps you believe there is somebody in your life that is going to be there for you in your time of need.

    Notable Lyrics: “When the sky turns black, I’ll be the light you need / I’ll go to Hell and back, I’ll be your remedy / And God, I have no doubt, I’ll do it endlessly”

    Fun Facts: The song will be released on his upcoming third album titled What Ifs & Maybes. Grennan starts an all-European tour in March. He rose to fame through his first appearance as the guest vocalist on the Chase and Status track “All Goes Wrong”.

     

    Beautiful

    Gene Moore, India.Arie

    A soulful love song made for a couple in love.

    Notable Lyrics: “When it comes to love you gettin’ all of mine / Imma never tell you no, it’s yes all the time / Every single thing I need, you multiply”

    Fun Facts: The song will be featured on Moore’s upcoming EP titled Introspection due for release in March. In 2019 Moore was nominated for Best Gospel Album for Tunnel Vision at the 62nd Grammy Awards.

     

    Sunshine

    A folk-rock love song about bottling up the love you have and the love you feel and never forget it.

    Notable Lyrics: “Sunshine down on me, you light up everything / And like a flower growing from a seed / I feel new life when you shine down on me”

    Fun Facts: The song will be featured on their fourth full-length record, 8th Wonder.

     

    Toy a Mil

    Fun Facts: Jam has fifteen Billboard Latin Music Awards. He has accumulated more than 13.5 billion total video streams to date. The music feature has cartoony special effects that portray the party vibe.

     

    Looking for You

    A country love song made for weddings.

    Notable Lyrics: “Looking for a sunrise leading to a sunset / Looking for a someone I can spend it with / Then it came around right out of the blue / And it turns out / Oh, I was looking for you”

    Fun Facts: This is Young’s first solo track in three years. He has 19 straight songs hit certified Gold. It will be 20 in a row if “At The End of the Bar” keeps selling.

    The song is all about self-empowerment and has mainstream success.

    Notable Lyrics: “I can take myself dancing / And I can hold my own hand / Yeah, I can love me better than you can”

    Fun Facts: The song made history for the most-streamed song in a single week in Spotify history. “Flowers” will be on her upcoming album titled Endless Summer Vacation set for release on March 10.

     

    Giddy Up!

    A fun country dance tune!

    Notable Lyrics: “Smiles for miles / All upon my face (my face) / Wear it, share it / ‘Cause we ain’t got time to waste (get to it)”

    Fun Facts: The song is featured on her latest album released in early February titled Queen of Me. If you want to know more about Twain, watch the 2022 Netflix documentary Not Just a Girl. Her Queen of Me Tour starts in April and lasts throughout the year,
