    Enjoy the December 2022 edition of “Behind the Wedding Music,” a resource to help build wedding playlists for DJs. Each month we will highlight new songs and include a line of song lyrics, a description of the song’s emotional profile, and a few fun facts — designed to help you advise a wedding couple if they’re looking for something fresh in their playlist.

    A singer-songwriter genre duet love song about worshiping each other.

    Notable Lyrics: “Speak honestly / Honestly, I can’t help falling for you / Everyday I’ll be brand new / Thank god for you, the better part of me”

    Fun Facts: The song will be featured on his upcoming album ‘The Day My Father Died’ set for release in February 2023. Another romantic love song from the album is “You and I” which features Charlotte Lawrence. SYML has more than 1 billion lifetime streams.

    Bring the energy to an apex with this club banger from one of the top DJs in the world.

    Notable Lyrics: “Your eyes call out my name / Tonight, we’re all the samе / And we are the sun, light up the world”

    Fun Facts: “Ritual” was released on his EP ‘Walkerverse Pt. II’. Walker is currently touring on his Walkerverse Tour that began in September and ends December 3rd in San Francisco. The song’s video features footage from the tour!

    A silky smooth love song to highlight any wedding day moment.

    Notable Lyrics: “I’m yours if you want it / Let’s make it forever girl / All you gotta do is say / Yes yes yes”

    Fun Facts: Vedo appeared on season 4 of The Voice – on Team Usher. Not only is he producing his own songs, but he is also writing lyrics for other artists such as Usher, Chris Brown, and Lil Dicky.

    When a choir, a Pop superstar, and electronic beats blend to make a sing-along dance hit that will have you vibrating from the bass.

    Notable Lyrics: “How am I supposed to go and live it / Comparing everybody to you? / No, I won’t forget you”

    Fun Facts: Derulo fell in love with the music of SHOUSE and tracked them down to collaborate on “Never Let You Go” after meeting in Ibiza. SHOUSE started recording that night. The song has surpassed 1.5 billion streams this far!

    A multilingual love song that showcases your love for another.

    Notable Lyrics: “Yeah, it feels, yeah, it feels like the very first time / I could fall for you forever, I’m certain / ‘Cause I still get nervous”

    Fun Facts: This is not the first time the pair has worked together. Legend and Yantra collaborated on Yatra’s single “Tacones Rojos”. They performed the song at the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards this past November.

    Great vibes for a cocktail hour with a fusion of soul, R&B, pop, and electronic.

    Notable Lyrics: “I’ve waited for a lifetime / To tell you I love you”

    Fun Facts: Lewis is a producer and music artist and has surpassed 4.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.  The story of how Lewis met his wife inspired the song. Lewis’ highest charting song is “Impact” (SG Lewis, Robyn & Channel Tres) released in 2020 topping at #25 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Billboard chart.

    A very soulful love song for any Big Day.

    Notable Lyrics: “Who cares about history / That’s all in the past / I knew the first time that I saw you / You’d be my last / Last love”

    Fun Facts: Mullins was a contestant on season 18 of The Voice. The song already has 73 thousand views on TikTok and makes for the perfect love song to incorporate into any couple’s clip.

    Tiësto & Tate McRae

    An EDM party song that will cause dancing.

    Notable Lyrics: “’Cause all I know it’s 10:35 / And I can feel your arms around me / Let ’em drown me / All I know it’s 10:35 / And I’m thanking, thanking God you found me”

    Fun Facts: The meaning behind 10:35 represents a changing point in time – when it switches from day to night. The music video was filmed at Dubai’s luxury resort Atlantis The Royal. Tiësto is actively on tour until May 2023. He also has a Las Vegas residency at ZOUK Nightclub inside Resorts World Las Vegas.

     

    I’m a Mess

    A pop-punk slow-dance love song by two superstars.

    Notable Lyrics: “But I know I’m a mess, I’m a mess / When we’re not together / Such a wreck, such a wreck / I hope it’s not forever”

    Fun Facts: The song was announced during a livestream featuring YUNGBLUD cutting Lavigne’s hair with a snippet of the song playing. The song was written by Lavigne, YUNGBLUD, Travis Barker of Blink-182, and John Feldmann.

     

    Never Gonna Not Dance Again
    P!NK

    A fun pop dance tune to play to set the mood for fun.

    Notable Lyrics: “I’ll scream and I’ll cry / We’ve already wasted enough time / I’m never gonna not dance again”

    Fun Facts: P!NK released a footnotes music video of the song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efEFzAExQUs) that has the vibes of VH1’s Pop-Up Video that started in 1996 and lasted 8 seasons. P!NK’s upcoming tour is called the P!NK Summer Carnival 2023 starting in the U.K. in June and ending in Phoenix in October.
