Enjoy the October 2022 edition of “Behind the Wedding Music,” a resource to help build wedding playlists for DJs. Each month we will highlight new songs and include a line of song lyrics, a description of the song’s emotional profile, and a few fun facts — designed to help you advise a wedding couple if they’re looking for something fresh in their playlist.

A few newly released wedding songs from September 2022:

Fun Facts: In less than a week, the song video has 5.4 million views on YouTube. The music video shows Jon throwing a jamming party from a bus, while Omar performs on a
    Dance Fever-like stage.

Notable Lyrics: “And I got love from all directions / Turn away from all bad presence / Out of sight, out of mind, you won’t ever ruin my vibe”

Fun Facts: Music fans voted on Billboard for their favorite song released the week of September 30th. “Better Thangs” won with 62% of the vote – over other artists including Ed Sheeran, Paramore, Shawn Mendes, and Kid Cudi.

A piano & cello cover of the song made famous by Justin Bieber.

    Notable Lyrics: (Instrumental)

Fun Facts: The Piano Guys go on tour throughout the U.S. starting on October 21st. Justin Bieber’s original song peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at 9. The song was Bieber’s 26th top-ten hit and made him the 11th-most top-ten entry in the chart’s history.

    Sweet Symphony
    Joy Oladokun, Chris Stapleton
    September 23, 2022

The song talks about the vulnerability, the fear, and the turbulence that comes from loving someone.

Notable Lyrics: “Even if the world that we built falls at our feet / We’re still right where we’re supposed to be / Together through ups and the downs”

Fun Facts: Oladokun wrote the song about the love her parents shared growing up. She is the daughter of Nigerian immigrants and was the first in the family to be born in America. Oladokun’s song “No Turning Back” soundtracked a viral baby announcement by Ciara and Russell Wilson.
