Enjoy the April 2022 edition of “Behind the Wedding Music,” a resource to help build wedding playlists for DJs. Each month we will highlight new songs and include a line of song lyrics, a description of the song’s emotional profile, and a few fun facts — designed to help you advise a wedding couple if they’re looking for something fresh in their playlist.

A few newly released wedding songs from March 2022:

    Big Energy (Remix)
    Latto, Mariah Carey, DJ Khaled
    March 28, 2022

A remix to the popular party song that features all three music artists.

Notable Lyrics: “And if your girl ain’t right, I got the remedy / It ain’t too many of them that can handle me / Bad chick, I could be your fantasy”

Fun Facts: The song dropped on her second studio album titled 777 as a bonus track. Latto, aka Big Latto, is formerly known as Mulatto. Both Latto’s “Big Energy” and Mariah Carey’s “Fantasy” sample Tom Tom Club’s “Genius of Love”.

    My Gift Is My Song
    HAUSER
    March 25, 2022

An 11-minute classical tribute song to Sir Elton John featuring “Your Song”, “Candle in the Wind”, “Rocket Man”, “Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word”, and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”.

Notable Lyrics: This is an instrumental song that could be played as a ceremony processional song for the entire wedding party.

Fun Facts: HAUSER, is a Croatian cellist and is a member of 2CELLOS. The song was released to celebrate Sir Elton’s 75th birthday. The song’s video was recorded at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest, Hungary, accompanied by the SoulAir Choir of Budapest and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

    Mother
    Michael Bublé
    March 25, 2022

A beautiful dedication to mothers. If engaged couples are looking for a new jazzy pop song to celebrate their Mom for a special reception dance, take a listen.

Notable Lyrics: “I know everybody’s saying they got the best one / But that ain’t true / ‘Cause I do”

Fun Facts: The song was released on Bublé’s new album Higher. The album features original songs along with tracks composed by Paul McCartney, Sam Cooke, Bob Dylan, Duke Ellington and Henry Nemo, along with a guest appearance from Willie Nelson.

    Forever My Love
    J Balvin, Ed Sheeran
    March 25, 2022

A beautiful love ballad sung in Spanish by both superstar music artists.

Notable Lyrics: Spanish: “Sé que habrán momentos de sufrimiento / But we’ll be okay / No soy perfecto, pero / En dondequiera que estés, ahí estaré”

English: “I know there will be moments of suffering / But we’ll be okay / I’m not perfect but / Wherever you are, I’ll be there”

Fun Facts: The relationship began when they crossed paths at a New York gym. Sheeran sings in Spanish on the song, specifically learning the language for his contribution for the new collaboration. Balvin’s Tour Jose 2022 begins April 19th in San Antonio.

    What Would You Do?
Joel Corry, David Guetta, Bryson Tiller
    March 18, 2022

A dance tune by Corry and a collaboration with fellow DJ Guetta and R&B artist Tiller.

Notable Lyrics: “I’m not saying forever / But you got me feeling some type of way / Are you down? ‘Cause I really gotta know”

Fun Facts: At the recently held 2022 Grammy Awards, the award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording went to “Alive” by Rüfüs Du Sol. The winner for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album was “Subconsciously” by Black Coffee.

Always (I’ll Be Waiting For You)
    Isabel Bailey Band
    March 11, 2022

When you think of Blues music, you typically don’t think of wedding songs. However, this song fits perfectly into any wedding playlist.

Notable Lyrics: “Kiss me once / Kiss me twice / I want you to kiss me every night / For the rest of our lives”

Fun Facts: Brent released another popular Disney cover called “Kiss The Girl” featured in the movie The Little Mermaid.
