Enjoy the March 2022 edition of “Behind the Wedding Music,” a resource to help build wedding playlists for DJs. Each month we will highlight new songs and include a line of song lyrics, a description of the song’s emotional profile, and a few fun facts — designed to help you advise a wedding couple if they’re looking for something fresh in their playlist.

A few newly released wedding songs from Feburary 2022:

    No Stoppin’ Us
Charlie Wilson, Johnny Gill, Babyface, K-Ci Hailey
    February 25, 2022

The song features an interpolation of McFadden & Whitehead‘s 1979 anthem “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now”.

Notable Lyrics: “Let’s keep the music playing / While we dance all night / Never letting go because there / Ain’t no stoppin’ us now”

Fun Facts: Wilson is the former frontman for the group The Gap Band. You can see Charlie Wilson live in concert on The Culture Tour along with New Edition and Jodeci.

    Dancing Feet
    Kygo, DNCE
    February 25, 2022

The revival of disco continues through artists like Dua Lipa and Kylie Minogue. You can now include this fun song too.

Notable Lyrics: “And these blindin’ lights, they shine so bright like we’re on the moon / But I don’t wanna dance another beat, no, unless it’s with you”

Fun Facts: DNCE is led by one of the Jonas Brothers, Joe. The song and video is 70’s disco-inspired and features Joe Jonas challenging Kygo to a dance-off. A designated website was created for promoting the song that has dancing feet following the mouse – https://www.dancingfeet.live.

    I Want It All
    Kat & Alex
    February 25, 2022

A beautiful slow country song to play as you first dance with a wedding-themed video.

Notable Lyrics: “I want your Friday nights, your Sunday mornings / Your all blue skies and won’t stop stormings / ‘I miss you’ texts and drunk phone calls / I want it, I want it, I want it all”

Fun Facts: Husband and wife duo Kat & Alex embody classic country stylings with a Latin twist. The pair are set to shake up country music with full-bodied soulful delivery, inventive live instrumentation, and bilingual lyrics, introducing themselves as outliers with just the right amount of outlaw glee.

Love You Still (abcdefu romantic version)
    Tyler Shaw
    February 11, 2022

A romantic remix to the popular song “abcdefu” by GAYLE.

Notable Lyrics: “I love you still / And you know I always will / Till the end of time / I won’t change my mind”

Fun Facts: Shaw first posted the remix on TikTok and has amassed more than 16.6 million views.  The Canadian singer-songwriter will be in concert at select Canadian locations in May and June.

    The Joker And The Queen
    Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift
    February 11, 2022

The lyrics describe being lucky to be with someone, even through long amounts of time and life changes.

Notable Lyrics: “And you went all in / With a single word / And a gentle touch / You turned a moment / Into forever”

Fun Facts: The remix duet version was announced as a sequel to Swift and Sheeran’s previous song “Everything Has Changed” on Swift’s album Red in 2012. The music video for “The Joker And The Queen” stars the same two actors from the “Everything Has Changed” video.

    Don’t Fade
    Vance Joy
    February 9, 2022

Joy describes the song as being about that feeling of timelessness you get when you’re with someone you love.

Notable Lyrics: “Forget about what’s going on outside / People say that nothing gold can stay / We can be the light that don’t fade away”

Fun Facts: This is the second song released for his forthcoming untitled third studio album. The first song was “Missing Piece” and a great mid-tempo background song. Joy’s 2022 world tour begins in May in California.

    Stuck On You
    Kem
    February 4, 2022

Kem has the feel of Marvin Gaye and Lionel Richie in this R&B love song.

Notable Lyrics: “Baby your love / Is so amazing / It drives me crazy / Baby I’m stuck on you”

Fun Facts: Kem’s last single was a huge hit peaking at No. 1 on the R&B charts with Toni Braxton “Live Out Your Love”. Kem is currently on tour with Babyface on the The Full Circle Tour.
