Enjoy the February 2022 edition of “Behind the Wedding Music,” a resource to help build wedding playlists for DJs. Each month we will highlight new songs and include a line of song lyrics, a description of the song’s emotional profile, and a few fun facts — designed to help you advise a wedding couple if they’re looking for something fresh in their playlist.

A few newly released wedding songs from January 2021:

    Amazed
    Home Free
    January 28, 2022

An acapella cover of the wildly popular love song by Lonestar in 1999.

Notable Lyrics: “I wanna spend the rest of my life / With you by my side / Forever and ever”

Fun Facts: Home Free is a five-member male group. The group won the fourth season of The Sing-Off on NBC in 2013. Look for more new music including a cover of “Make You Feel My Love.”

    Real Thing
    Pink Sweat$, Tori Kelly
    January 28, 2022

A romantic R&B love song to add to your wedding playlist.

Notable Lyrics: “You make me feel like heaven is a real place / I’ll bet on us cause I know it’s the real thing / You make me feel like heaven ain’t so far away”

Fun Facts: “Real Thing” is featured on his new EP ‘Pink Moon’. Pink Sweat$’s biggest hit thus far is “At My Worst” released in 2020 as a solo and as a duet with Kehlani. The duo performed the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

    I’ll Never Not Love You
    Michael Bublé
    January 28, 2022

Another love song was released by the modern pop/jazz crooner.

Notable Lyrics: “I’ll treat you right / I’ll stand by you / And no matter whatever happens / I’ll never not love you”

Fun Facts: Bublé will be releasing his 11th studio album titled HIGHER on March 25th – and his first in three years. The new album will also feature a duet with Willie Nelson of his song “Crazy,” a version of Sir Paul McCartney’s song “My Valentine”, and the Bob Dylan classic “Make You Feel My Love”.

    The Last Dance
    Kid Rock
    January 25, 2022

As described by Kid Rock himself “It’s a rock and roll song, loosely based on my parents and their relationship. They’ve been married for well over 50 years.”

Notable Lyrics: “Rock-n-rolling / Driving like it’s stolen / Put our worries in the rear view, babe / And fall in love again

Fun Facts: Kid Rock released three new singles including “The Last Dance”. He also announced the Bad Reputation Tour in 2022.

    Toxic Pony
    ALTÉGO, Britney Spears & Ginuwine
    January 21, 2022

“Toxic Pony” is a mashup of Briney Spears’ song “Toxic” and Ginuwine’s song “Pony”.

Notable Lyrics: “I’m addicted to you / Don’t you know that you’re toxic? / And I love what you do”

Fun Facts: The two brothers that make up ALTÉGO are twins and are based in London. The song has already been featured in 2.5 million videos on TikTik! Be sure to check out another ALTÉGO mashup of Doja Cat’s “You Right” and ABBA’s “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)”.

    Amazing
    Teddy Swims
    January 21, 2022

With Swim’s raspy voice, this song would make for the perfect dedication to a new wife.

Notable Lyrics: “Your curls, your curves, your smile, your eyes / Told you ’bout a million times / But I’m ’bout to say it again / You look amazing”

Fun Facts: The song is featured on his just released Tough Love EP. A video for the song was released live from RAK Studios in London (see above). Teddy Swims will begin a Europe tour in Copenhagen in May 2022.

    Growing Old With You

If you are dreaming of a fairytale love story, this tells exactly that – a true love ballad.

Fun Facts: Wade Bowen is an American country singer known for singing in the genre Red Dirt. Bowen’s biggest hit thus far is also a wedding staple “Who I Am.”

    I Choose You
    Amanda Jordan

The ultimate country love song that will be requested at many weddings in 2022.

Notable Lyrics: “For better forever in love / From now on this moment is more than enough / Until my days are through / I choose you”

Fun Facts: The song was performed on ABC’s The Bachelor on episode 2 of season 26 in 2022. Jordan was also featured on the cover of Spotify’s ‘Live Country’ playlist in August 2021 following the release of “Love You To Pieces.”

    Fall Into Me (Acoustic)
    Forest Blakk
    January 7, 2022

Acoustic covers of popular love songs by the original artist always make for great ceremony songs and dinner background songs.

Notable Lyrics: “Then you walked down those stairs / And I knew my heart wasn’t mine / On the day that I met you / My whole world came alive”

Fun Facts: The song was co-written with Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas and Gregg Wattenberg. The original charted high on the Hot AC radio chart. Be sure to check out the duet version of the song with Meghan Trainor too!
