This week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday DJ spotlight, presented by QSC, shines on Mike Walter, owner of Elite Entertainment from Jersey Shore, NJ.
Mike Walter is this week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday spotlight. Presented by QSC, Mike Walter is a mobile DJ and owner of Elite Entertainment, based out of Tinton Falls, New Jersey. As the owner of Elite Entertainment out of New Jersey and the author of On This Date In Music, Mike Walter is an industry vet that’s been showcasing his talents as a mobile DJ for many successful years.
Getting his start with a multi-op called Star DJs, Walter learned the basics and foundations of DJing and what it takes to become a successful mobile DJ. From there, he launched his own company, Elite Entertainment – and the rest is history. Even though as a mobile DJ, one of the biggest downsides might be that you’ve got to work just about every weekend, according to Mike, the upsides easily outweigh any negatives – and most importantly, it’s about bringing joy to people with each event he’s a part of.

When DJ LIFE spoke with Walter regarding all things mobile DJ, here’s how it went down…
DJ LIFE: How did you get started as a DJ?
Mike Walter: I started with a large multi-op called Star DJs. Learned the basics there and then when I didn’t like the direction they were going I started my own thing.
DJ LIFE: What does being a mobile DJ mean to you?
Walter: Bringing joy to people. It’s all about providing a safe space for people to dance and celebrate judgement free. That’s what I get to do every weekend and it’s why I love my job.
DJ LIFE: Can you tell us about your current DJ setup?
Walter: Pioneer DJX1000 SRT. QSC K-12s (which I LOVE BTW), QSC KS112 2000W 12-inch Powered Subwoofer, 2 Shure Cordless Mics.
DJ LIFE: What would your perfect or dream setup look like?
Walter: Someone else setting it up for me 🙂
DJ LIFE: Do you have any favorite or new gear that you’re currently using?
Walter: Not really. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it is my mentality.
DJ LIFE: What are some of the biggest pros and cons of being a mobile DJ?
Walter: The only downside to being a mobile DJ is working (almost) every weekend and dealing with drunk people. But the upside easily outweighs these negatives!
DJ LIFE: Do you have any DJ-related pet peeves?
Walter: I love my job. No job is perfect, but I try to focus on the positives and don’t even dwell on the negatives.
DJ LIFE: How has being a DJ impacted your personal/family life?
Walter: It’s provided me with a very good income my entire professional career. It’s allowed me to pursue other interests like traveling and writing.
