Enjoy the June 2025 edition of “Behind the Wedding Music,” a resource to help build wedding playlists for DJs.

Each month, we will highlight new songs and include a line of song lyrics, a description of the song’s emotional profile, and a few fun facts, designed to help you advise a wedding couple if they’re looking for something fresh in their playlist.

New wedding song ideas from May 2025:

    HOLLYWOOD

    YG, Shoreline Mafia

    May 23, 2025

A hip-hop party song ready to be a summer jam.

Notable Lyrics: “When you approach me, do it with some caution / I just turned Coachella into Hochella / And I got it on me, I’m a known felon”

Fun Facts: The track is a true West Coast banger, uniting YG (from Compton) with members of Shoreline Mafia, a Los Angeles-based rap group. The track calls out the fake, clout-chasing lifestyle that people adopt when they “make it”.

    cliché

    mgk

    May 23, 2025

The track incorporates pop-punk elements reminiscent of Blink-182 and 2000s pop for an upbeat background song.

    Notable Lyrics:

Fun Facts: The song’s lyrics delve into themes of love and vulnerability. “cliché” has sparked a widespread dance trend on TikTok, with users creating choreographed routines that have contributed to the song’s popularity. “Machine Gun Kelly” currently has no upcoming tour dates.

    Forget Tonight

    Steve Aoki, Tyler Hubbard

    May 16, 2025

A country dance blend about being caught with love at first sight.

Notable Lyrics: “I can’t believe I asked, you said, ‘Shut up and kiss me’ / You told me I was crazy, baby, but you knew I was right / When I said, ‘We won’t forget tonight’”

Fun Facts: Hubbard is best known as one-half of the country duo Florida Georgia Line. Steve Aoki has collaborated across countless genres, including rock (Linkin Park) to hip hop (Kid Cudi), to pop (Louis Tomlinson).

    Paradise

    DJ Snake & Bipolar Sunshine

    May 16, 2025

A mellow tropical house vibe to get guests singing along during a wedding’s cocktail hour or dinner.

Notable Lyrics: “Oh, think twice / ‘Cause it’s another day for you and me in paradise / Oh, think twice / ‘Cause it’s another day for you / You and me in paradise”

Fun Facts: This is the second collaboration between DJ Snake and Bipolar Sunshine. Their first being the massive global hit “Middle” in 2015. It samples “Another Day in Paradise” by Phil Collins. DJ Snake has scheduled festivals and many European dates but only one on the schedule in the USA.

    I Want It That Way

    Prince Royce

    May 16, 2025

A bachata reimagined version of a popular pop sing-along in both English and Spanish.

Notable Lyrics: “Ain’t nothing but a mistake / Dime por qué / I never wanna hear you say / I want it that way”

Fun Facts: Royce is a Bronx-born Dominican-American artist. He infused the song with Caribbean rhythms and instrumentation. The song is featured on his latest album titled ‘Eterno’, which consists of cover songs. Other bachata covers include the Bee Gees’ “How Deep Is Your Love” and the Beatles’ “Yesterday”.

    Let’s Ride Away

    Avicii & Elle King

    May 15, 2025

The song has varying speeds, but I think it makes for a fun ceremony recessional song or send-off.

Notable Lyrics: “Take my hand, let’s run / I’ll bring my arrows, you bring your gun / Cloud of smoke / I don’t know where, but I wanna go”

Fun Facts: The song was initially crafted during a songwriting session with country star Kacey Musgraves. She chose not to be on the final release and King was brought in as a replacement. Producer Carl Falk finished the song after Avicii’s passing in 2018 and it was released on the compilation album Avicii Forever.

    QUE HACES

    Becky G & Manuel Turizo

    May 9, 2025

The all-Spanish track blends the lively rhythms of merengue and bachata with Latin pop, creating an infectious dance track.

Notable Translated Lyrics: “Tell me what you’re doing this Friday and the rest of your life / Because I don’t have any plans”

Fun Facts: The song features traditional instruments like tambora dominicana, congas, güiro, piano, bass, and guitar, giving it a rich, tropical sound. The lyrics explore the excitement of new love and the spontaneity of a romantic relationship. Becky G’s documentary “Rebbeca” is set to premiere at the Tribeca Festival on June 12.

    The Final Countdown 2025

    David Guetta, Hypaton, Europe

    May 9, 2025

A clash of EDM and hair band music into a hype track to increase dance intensity.

Notable Lyrics: “We’re leaving ground (Leaving ground) / Will things ever be the same again? / It’s the final countdown / The final countdown”

Fun Facts: The original band, Europe, actively participated in this project, ensuring that the essence of the 1986 hit was preserved while introducing contemporary elements. David Guetta premiered it during his set at Tomorrowland 2024. Guetta is known for revitalizing other classic hits, including “Blue (Da Ba Dee)” and “What Is Love?”

    Can’t Get Enough

    Victoria Nadine & Kygo

    May 2, 2025

An dance track that can mixed into your dance sets.

Notable Lyrics: “But I just can’t get enough / I’m craving your love / Whenever you want, I’ll give in”

Fun Facts: Did you know Victoria Nadine and Kygo are a couple in real life? The duo wrote Can’t Get Enough in just two days. Following the song’s release, Victoria Nadine and Kygo embarked on a global tour titled ‘World Tour Part 1’ together.

How I Feel (Am I Wrong)

Faul & Wad, Nico & Vinz, Altego

    May 2, 2025

A song to be added to party playlists for nostalgia and dancing.

Notable Lyrics: “If you tell me I’m wrong, wrong / I don’t wanna be right, right”

Fun Facts: The original “Am I Wrong” by Nico & Vinz was a worldwide success in 2013. Faul & Wad bring their signature French house sound. The new track was released under the renowned electronic music label Spinnin’ Records.
