You can create brand awareness for your business through social media, sponsorships, a logo, flyers, PR, word of mouth, etc. Nothing wrong with any of these tactics, of course. One DJ asks: “Is speaking on a phone no longer a thing for businesses? Have we gone solely to email and/or text messaging? I didn’t get the memo! When I visit a vendor’s website, I’m finding only a contact form page to fill in or an email address, but no phone number. I’m still using (and answering) my phone for business calls! Am I the only one, still? Darrin Johnson: It’s sad that the world would rather be so cold as to only rely on email or a web site yet everyday in the news more people are shot or…
A fellow DJ contacts you asking if you can cover a wedding that he’s booked. He wants to keep his contract with the bride and groom — he’ll provide uplighting for the event. Over the last 3 years, Wieder has transitioned from wedding entertainer to a beloved local celebrity, known as “The Bubble Man”, and he’s loving every minute of it. Pre-pandemic, Mike was supplementing his wedding entertainment business with mid-week bubble parties. Once the pandemic forced global lockdowns, and limitations on gatherings, weddings, etc., Mike saw an opportunity to shift his focus onto bubble-tainment. The formula was simple – deliver…
How do DJs address cancellations and refunds? It’s an increasing reality, especially in the COVID age. “We book about 250 weddings a year. All deposits are non-refundable. There are 2 instances where deposits become refundable or transferable: 1. Pretty much anything COVID-related, we offered a refund or transfer of deposit. We retain a small fee to cover cc fees and processing. 2. We are able to book another wedding on their date. Then, we will refund the deposit and retain the same fee as above. Any payments made outside of 60 days are refundable. One last thing we do that…
