Ableton Move: A Portable Tool for Intuitive Music Making

Ableton has announced the release of Move, a new standalone instrument for capturing ideas whenever they appear.

Ableton Move is a portable music creation tool designed for ease of use and flexibility. With over 1,500 sounds and presets in its core library, it allows users to start new ideas quickly. Featuring 32 polyphonic aftertouch pads, a 16-step sequencer, and built-in speaker and microphone, Move integrates seamlessly with Ableton Live software, enabling users to finish projects started on Move within Live.

Move’s four tracks can be instantly converted into drum kits, samplers, or instruments. A single drum hit can be transformed into a melody or bassline using its 16 pitches layout. Its microphone, line-in, and built-in speaker make it ideal for sampling on the go, while the battery offers up to four hours of use.

Sharing the same instruments and effects as Ableton Live, Move includes samples and presets from the Ableton sound team, along with collaborations from artists like BNYX, DECAP, and L.Dre. Users can add depth to their tracks with eight built-in audio effects, such as reverb, delay, and saturator.

Tactile controls include nine touch-sensitive rotary encoders and 32 backlit pads, allowing for expressive play. Move also serves as a compact control surface for Ableton Live, with Wi-Fi connectivity enabling easy transfer of projects to Live through Ableton Cloud.

Live 12.1 is available now. Move comes with Live 12.1 Intro. Live 1 2.1 introduces the new pitch correction and harmonization feature Auto Shift, compact sample player Drum Sampler, sound auto-tagging and more.
