This week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday DJ spotlight brightly shines on Kaitlyn Reyes, also known as DJ K-Sprinkles.
Ahead of DJX ’24, DJ LIFE sat down with show regular, Kaitlyn Reyes, known as DJ K-Sprinkles. If you’re involved in the DJ scene, then there’s a strong chance that you’ve already heard of K-Sprinkles. As a content creator for Serato, she’s not only a well-known turntablist and mixshow DJ, but a go-to for brands and events.
Always bringing the heat and energy, K-Sprinkles is one of the scene’s rising stars. As one to watch, K-Sprinkles just earned second place in the 2024 DMC TX Regional National DJ Battle, where she also notably placed third in 2019.
When DJ LIFE recently caught up with DJ K-Sprinkles ahead of DJX ’24, it went down like this…
DJ LIFE: What does being a Mobile DJ mean to you?
DJ K-Sprinkles: Being a mobile DJ to me means that I am able to travel all over the map to entertain for all types of events for people of all ages. I love that people trust me when they book me to bring the entertainment through my music and help them create awesome memories.
DJ LIFE: What can you share with us about your current DJ setup?
K-Sprinkles: My setup can vary depending on the type of event. For showcasing my turntablism, I typically use my Technics 1200 turntables with my Phase wireless needles. For private parties and corporate events, I have a setup with a controller that makes it portable and quick for setup and packing up.
DJ LIFE: How about your dream or ideal DJ setup?
K-Sprinkles: My ideal dream setup for me would be to be able to use my Technics 1200 Turntables with my wireless Phase needles.
DJ LIFE: Do you have any favorite/go-to or new gear that you’ve been utilizing lately?
K-Sprinkles: I have had the privilege in the past year to work with several brands such as Technics (1200 Turntables), Hercules (Inpulse T7 Controller and Starlight Mini Controller), Rane (72 MK2 mixer) and Pioneer DJ (DDJ-REV7 controller) to create content and do demonstrations on social media. I am super grateful that they have blessed me with the opportunities to create content and showcase at NAMM Show and DJX conventions.
DJ LIFE: What some of the pros and cons of being a mobile DJ?
K-Sprinkles: Pros of being mobile to travel and visit new places all the time and meeting awesome people everywhere I go to play my music and entertain. I love everything about being a DJ. The only con I would say is having to load and unload equipment that at times can be stressful if the weather is bad such as rain or snow.
