Enjoy the July 2023 edition of “Behind the Wedding Music,” a resource to help build wedding playlists for DJs. Each month we will highlight new songs and include a line of song lyrics, a description of the song’s emotional profile, and a few fun facts — designed to help you advise a wedding couple if they’re looking for something fresh in their playlist.

A few newly released wedding songs from June 2023:

    Make My Day

    Coi Leray, David Guetta

    June 23, 2023

A dance party hit to get everyone hyped.

Notable Lyrics: “I said, ‘Ooh, they wanna copy my cool / But they don’t know what to do with it’ / I said, ‘Ooh, they tryna fit in your shoes / But they can’t do it like you do it (make my day)”

Fun Facts: “Make My Day” samples Technotronic’s 1989 hit “Pump Up the Jam”. The song is featured on Leray’s new LP titled ‘Coi’ along with her mega-hit “Players”. The music video is a must-watch as it is anime-inspired. She also collaborated with Guetta earlier this year on his smash “Baby Don’t Hurt Me”.

    If Only I

Loud Luxury, Two Friends, Bebe Rexha

    June 23, 2023

A summer vibe to set the tone when guests arrive at the reception or include in the dance set.

Notable Lyrics: “If only I could stop the sunrise, we could lay here all night / If only I could learn to freeze time, I’d hold you forever / If only I had one more day, I’d love you 25-8”

Fun Facts: The song debuted at Coachella during Two Friends’ set when Rexha surprised the crowd when she walked on stage and performed the song. Two Friends are currently on tour with multiple dates and locations in Vegas. Loud Luxury is also currently on tour with multiple dates to see them live in Vegas.

    Anything like you

    Sam Derosa

    June 16, 2023

A song for a wedding’s father and daughter dance.

Notable Lyrics: “If he’s anything like you / I think I will be terrified / Cause no one compares to you / Yeah, you set the bar so high”

Fun Facts: In 2019 Derosa performed on the Reality TV Show Songland. She performed her song “Pill For This” in front of Charlie Puth in an effort for him to choose the song to record. Unfortunately for her, Puth selected Zach Sorgen’s “Bad Habit”.

Man! I Feel Like a Woman!

    Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox

    June 15, 2023

A jazz-infused pop hit to play as a dinner sing-along.

Notable Lyrics: “I’m only gonna have a good time / The best thing about bein’ a woman / Is the prerogative to have a little fun”

Fun Facts: A cover of the famous Shania Twain track in the style of Marilyn Monroe. The song is a nod to the iconic Old Hollywood musical “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend”. The band startup their tour again in August with locations in many countries around the world through October.

    Biggest Fan

    Adam Doleac

    June 8, 2023

A country love ballad made for a private last dance.

Notable Lyrics: “Put my hands up for a little bit of your love / ‘Til our last dance, nobody’s gonna love you like I can, no / Don’t you know, baby, I’m your biggest fan?”

Fun Facts: Doleac wrote the song as a dedication to his wife because she is always supporting him and is his biggest fan. He is also letting her know that he is there supporting her too.

    If You Were Mine

    Miranda Lambert & Leon Bridges

    June 6, 2023

An R&B and Country crosser love song made for two people in love.

Notable Lyrics: “I’d rope the moon for you / A million times / That’s what I’d do / If you were mine”

Fun Facts: Bridges and Lambert are both Texas natives. The song was co-written by Lambert with Bridges in mind for the duet. Once complete, she sent the song to Bridges hoping he would accept singing on the track. The video is thought-provoking as a couple gets into a disagreement but they realize being together is more important.

Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe

    Jason Morales

    June 4, 2023

A soulful love song perfect for any slow dance.

Notable Lyrics: “My darling, I can’t get enough of your love, babe / Girl, I don’t know, I don’t know why / I can’t get enough of your love, babe”

Fun Facts: The song is a cover ballad of the song made famous by Barry White. Morales was signed to Quincy Jones’ Qwest Records in the boy band “Youth Asylum” at the age of 14. He has toured and performed with artists including Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Rahsaan Patterson, Kenny Latimore, and much more.

    Without You

    Alesso

    June 2, 2023

A love dance anthem with heart-pounding beats to dedicate to the wedding couple on THEIR DAY.

Notable Lyrics: “My heart’s too heavy for my own legs to carry / And I don’t know what I’m supposed to do / I can’t go on this time without you in my life”

Fun Facts: Alesso teased three songs on his social media channels. Fans chose for Alesso to release “Without You”. He is currently on a worldwide tour that includes multiple stops on the Vegas strip including TAO, Hakkasan, and Omnia.

    Masterpiece

    Ben Harper

    June 2, 2023

An emotional indie love song made for a wedding day.

Notable Lyrics: “Love you for who you are / I love you for who you may never be / From downtown all the way up to 142nd Street “

Fun Facts: Harper is currently married to his third wife but his second wife was actress Laura Dern. He is an avid skateboarder and co-owns the brand Roller Horror. Harper is currently on tour in Europe and will return to the States in August with show performances including The Chicks, John Mayer, and City and Colour.

You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)

    Adam Lambert & Sigala

    June 2, 2023

    A party dance hit.

Notable Lyrics: “When we’re out there dancing on the floor / And I feel like I need some more / Feel your body close to mine / I know, my love, it’s about that time”

Fun Facts: The song is a cover of the disco classic by Sylvester released in 1978. The song follows Lambert’s album ‘High Drama’ released in February of all cover songs including Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out For A Hero” featured in the film Footloose. Lambert has also carved out his place as the lead singer of Queen as a replacement for Freddy Mercury.
