Famed Scottish artist KC Lights teams up with Merseyside-hailing Låpsley for “Better Times,” out now on Toolroom.
As the summer approaches with full force, house titan’s Toolroom, an imprint with global appeal and acclaim, releases “Better Times” from KC Lights featuring Låpsley on June 9.
“Better Times” serves as a debut collaboration for KC Lights and Låpsley, who pair exceptionally well on the record. The summery, sun-soaked house anthem is disco-infused, dance-floor-ready, and a must-add to your summertime playlists. Placing shine on the groove, funk, and soul, “Better Times” has already garnered pre-release features and inclusions from the likes of BBC Radio One’s Danny Howard, KISS, Capital Dance, and Apple’s DanceXL song starter, and more.
A surefire classic in the making for KC Lights, “Better Times” joins a list of already prominent releases for the talented Glaswegian producer & DJ. Best known for his 2020 smash-hit “Girl,” “Cold Light” with Leo Stannard, and another whimsical production appropriate for the warm weather and memorable summer nights, “Daydreamer.” Låpsley is a critically-acclaimed vocalist and songwriter whose debut LP The Long Way Home released on the renowned XL Recordings.
“The idea for ‘Better Times’ manifested while I was on the train to London to meet Lapsley for a writing session. I wanted a sound that felt warm and familiar but also new and exciting. Almost immediately, Lapsley & I knew that we had a creative connection. A few hours later, we had written the track. We just knew the nostalgic vibe and sound felt so right. For me, ‘Better Times’ is about letting go of anything weighing you down in life and looking ahead optimistically. Looking ahead into summer, I think this song will be a big moment in my sets.” – KC Lights
