This week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday DJ spotlight, presented by QSC, shines on DJ Keelez from Los Angeles, California.
DJ Keelez is this week’s DJ LIFE Mobile Monday spotlight. Presented by QSC, Bibi Quiles, a/k/a DJ Keelez, based out of Los Angeles, California, sits down with DJ LIFE to talk all things mobile DJ.
Quiles is a mobile DJ, first and foremost, however, she’s so much more than that. When asked what being a mobile DJ means to her, Quiles reveals, “I don’t just show up and press play—I bring energy, personality, and a willingness to go all in to make every event special.”
From breaking down her current DJ setup, the pros and cons of being a mobile DJ, to DJ-related pet peeves, we cover all ground with Bibi, including how being a DJ has impacted her family and personal life as well as the most important lessons learned thus far amidst all of the experience gained from pursuing a career in the field.
When DJ LIFE spoke with Bibi regarding all things mobile DJ, here’s how it went down…
DJ LIFE: Can you tell us about your current DJ setup?
DJ Keelez: My current DJ setup is centered around the Pioneer DDJ-REV7, which I absolutely love for its responsive jog wheels and dynamic performance capabilities. It’s perfect for creating seamless transitions and adding those creative touches that keep the energy on the dance floor high.
For sound, I exclusively use QSC KC12 speakers, which deliver crystal-clear audio and incredible power. They’re versatile enough to handle anything from intimate events to larger venues, and I always make sure to fine-tune the settings to match the space perfectly. The combination of the REV7 and QSC KC12s ensures a top-tier audio experience that keeps my events sounding amazing.
DJ LIFE: What does being a mobile DJ mean to you?
DJ Keelez: Being a mobile DJ is more than just playing music—it’s about creating unforgettable moments, no matter the setting. It means adapting to any environment, working with any crowd, and being ready for anything that comes my way.
It also means being a true entertainer. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or private party, I don’t just show up and press play—I bring energy, personality, and a willingness to go all in to make every event special. If that means dressing up in a costume, hyping up the crowd, or getting on the mic to keep the energy alive, I’m all in! I’ve performed in everything from formalwear to full-blown themed outfits, and I love that my job allows me to fully immerse myself in each unique event.
At the end of the day, my goal is to make sure every guest leaves thinking, “That was the best party ever.”
DJ LIFE: What are some of the biggest pros and cons of being a mobile DJ?
DJ Keelez:
Pros:
- Every event is unique, which keeps things fresh and exciting.
- I get to meet incredible people and be a part of their biggest celebrations.
- The energy is unmatched—whether it’s a wedding, festival, or corporate event, bringing people together through music is an amazing feeling.
- I have full creative control over how I shape the vibe and experience.
Cons:
- The setup and breakdown can be physically demanding, especially when dealing with large venues or multiple setups.
- Not every venue is DJ-friendly—some have tricky layouts, poor acoustics, or minimal setup time.
- Balancing work and personal life can be tough since most events happen on weekends and late at night.
Even with the challenges, I wouldn’t trade this career for anything!
DJ LIFE: Do you have any DJ-related pet peeves?
DJ Keelez: Definitely! One of my biggest pet peeves is when guests insist on song requests that don’t fit the vibe—or worse, try to hand me their phone to play a song. Trust me, I’ve got the music covered!
Another is when venues don’t allocate enough time for proper setup and soundchecks. A little extra time makes all the difference in ensuring the best sound quality and experience for the guests.
DJ LIFE: How has being a DJ impacted your personal/family life?
DJ Keelez: DJing has taught me the importance of balance. With a packed schedule full of late nights and weekend events, I’ve had to be intentional about making time for family and personal life. But it has also given me amazing experiences that I get to share with my loved ones, whether it’s bringing them along to cool events or introducing them to incredible music.
At the same time, DJing has shaped who I am as a person—it has made me more adaptable, more confident, and more appreciative of the power of music to bring people together.
DJ LIFE: What is the most important life lesson you have gained from your experience as a DJ?
DJ Keelez: Adaptability is everything. No two events are the same, and I’ve learned that the ability to think on my feet, read the crowd, and adjust in real-time is what separates a good DJ from a great one.
I’ve also learned that commitment to the experience matters. Whether that means hyping up a crowd, wearing a themed outfit, or adjusting the music to match the energy in the room, the best events happen when I fully commit to making them special. That’s why I’m always willing to go the extra mile, whether it’s through music, performance, or even my outfit choices—because I know that’s what makes the night unforgettable.
