Available now (Fri., Sept. 27), the latest LP from Böhmer includes Lykke Li, Oh Wonder, Erin LeCount, and more.

Today (Sept. 27) marks the release of Bloom, the third studio album by celebrated DJ, artist, and producer Ben Böhmer, available now via Ninja Tune. The 11-track LP showcases Ben’s adept songwriting and compositional skills. Bloom is not just an album but a showcase of Ben’s evolution from a piano prodigy to an emotive music creator, using minimal instruments like piano, a microphone, and his computer.

Despite accumulating over a billion streams and a massive following on YouTube, Ben’s musical identity has often been pigeonholed, a narrative Bloom aims to expand. His collaboration with notable artists like Lykke Li and Oh Wonder adds a rich layer to his music, pushing the boundaries beyond typical electronic soundscapes.

Ben’s music ventures into new genres and tempos, maintaining his distinct melancholic electronica across all tracks. From the opening notes of “Martin” to collaborations like “Evermore” with The Blaze’s Enfant Sauvage, and dancefloor rhythms in “Rust,” his piano-driven melodies consistently stand out. The album’s focus single, “The Sun,” featuring Josephine Vander West from Oh Wonder, strikes a balance between familiar sounds and new compositional instincts, underscored by empowering lyrics.

Following his prolific performances at festivals like Sonar by Night and Lollapalooza, and touring with ODESZA, Ben is set to continue his tour in North America and Australia, before returning to Europe for more shows. His dynamic live performances and online presence have not only garnered a strong fanbase but have also placed him at the forefront of the electronic music scene, evidenced by his growing Spotify listenership and social media following. His journey is further highlighted by his significant online impact, notably his Cercle set, which ranks among the top viewed electronic sets on YouTube.
