Originating in 2015, the Baltimore Blend Battle requires its DJ-contestants to come up with the best mix of an a cappella and an instrumental track.

Baltimore, Md. – Local jock WattyJay won the Baltimore Blend Battle this past Sunday, March 24. Held at the Ikonic Live club, the competition saw WattyJay outduel 13 other jocks and nose out runner-up DJ PoPo to take the title and its $2,500 prize.

Originating in 2015, the Baltimore Blend Battle requires its DJ-contestants to come up with the best mix of an a cappella and an instrumental track. The jocks are welcome to be as creative as they like, using a variety of sound sources – from TV-show soundtracks to commercial jingles and the even more arcane.

WattyJay (aka Jay Watty III), age 33, is currently the tour DJ for hitmaking, Maryland-based rapper Cordae and is the former tour DJ for chartbusting singers Ty Dolla Sign and DaniLeigh. He’s played onstage at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Essence Festival, among others.
