In addition to the GoFundMe, all proceeds from an upcoming Toolroom single (Jan. 19) will also be donated.

The music community is coming together for a cause, uniting for internationally celebrated house music vocalist Kathy Brown. The chart-topping diva and an undeniable talent, the chart-topping artist was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, which has now spread to her brain. The news came as a total shock to her family, friends, and fans as it resulted in an emergency operation. Kathy is currently undergoing a course of radiotherapy and immunotherapy, and the road ahead is going to be a challenge unlike any she has faced before.

Kathy and her family are now facing the harsh reality of what this means – not only the physical and medical challenges, but also the many financial ones. Like most artists who have devoted their careers to dance music, without being able to perform, there’s little to no chance of Kathy being able to earn an income. Kathy has poured her heart and soul onto stages and dancefloors all over the world for more than thirty years – and now she needs our help.

Chanta Joyner, daughter of Brown, has set up a GoFundMe to help support the family at this extremely difficult time. To aid the fundraising effort, Toolroom have announced a charity single from Wh0, Mark Knight & James Hurr featuring Kathy’s iconic vocals titled, “Turn Me Deeper.” The single oozes fun and good times, which is what Kathy’s music has always been about.

Each of the original writers on “Turn Me Deeper” have allocated all publishing earnings, with the artists and Toolroom also pledging all of their royalties to help get Kathy the best treatment possible.

Hailing from South Carolina, Kathy Brown originally found fame as the chart-topping lead singer of the group Praxis before having US dance hits on her own. In 1999, she climbed to No. 4 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart with “Joy” and in 2004 was the credited lead vocalist on the British act Soul Central’s “Strings Of Life (Stronger On My Own),” a track that samples Rhythm Is Rhythm’s 1989 house classic. Over the years she has been featured on dozens of house and club singles and has solidified herself as one of the most-loved voices to ever have graced the house music scene.
