Available now through RCA Records, fans will recognize “Whatever” from one of Shakira’s greatest hits.

“Whatever,” out now through RCA Records, is Kygo’s latest collaboration, and this time, he pairs with pop music superstar Ava Max. The playful take on Shakira’s multi-platinum smash-hit “Whenever, Wherever,” through guitar strums and vocal chops, Kygo’s rendition brings his signature sound to the forefront.

The song garnered 1.7M+ million streams in its first day, making it Ava’s highest-streamed debut on Spotify. The music video, which you can watch below, was directed by Dano Cerny, who has previously worked with The Chainsmokers, Halsey, Elle King. Introducing the first chapter of visuals to come from Kygo this year, the “Whatever” video follows Ava Max across a desolate desert highway.

Kygo’s first release of 2024, “Whatever” follows his official remake of Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson’s legendary chart-topping song “Say Say Say” last year, as well as the release of his fourth studio album, Thrill Of The Chase, in 2022, which featured collaborations with X Ambassadors, DNCE, Lukas Graham, Gryffin, Sam Feldt, Dean Lewis, and more.

Ava Max, responsible for songs like “Sweet But Psycho” and “Kings and Queens,” has also collaborated with Alan Walker on “Alone Pt. II” and Alok on “Ayla (Car Keys).” She was also included on the Barbie The Movie soundtrack with her hit “Choose Your Fighter,” which followed her massive collab with Tiësto, “The Motto.”
