Sherm & Isaac Palmer have joined forces for an electric edit of Drake & Travis Scott’s smash, “P**** & Millions.”
Available today (September 1) through Hood Politics Records, Sherm and Isaac Palmer have come together to deliver an electrifying new edit of the smash-hit “P**** & Millions” by Drake & Travis Scott. The new edit follows Sherm’s recent collaboration with Isaac Palmer & Amero, “Going Numb.” We sat down with the Chicago-based DJ & producer Sherm to discuss the new edit in this DJ LIFE Mag interview, below.
Sherm along with Isaac deliver a scorching tech house edit that’s fully equipped with a thumping bassline and sizzling drum patters. Sampling Drake & Scott’s voice in a truly masterful fashion, they build the track into a peak time heater that’s laced with blistering synth stabs and an overall electrifying energy. Just in time for the release of his new edit with Isaac, Sherm will share The Vega Stage with DJ Snake, HUGEL, MK, and more at North Coast Festival on Sat., Sept. 2.
“Cutting my teeth as a Chicago DJ has taught me so much about knowing when to move fast and shift the energy in sets. This edit can take you into the darkness from a light place or vice versa very quickly. Its underground sound and mainstream verses give any DJ the agility and ability to flex the energy while keeping the crowd engaged. Isaac and I had a shared vision to create a track that’s banger and will become a staple in a DJ’s set but also a “must hear” track for every fan.” – Sherm
Speaking to the collaboration, Isaac adds that “We had the best time working on this remix. I actually started it while in Europe before I went to Miami for MMW where I met up with Sherm. We messed around with the Drake vocals in the first drop and had the feeling it could turn out pretty cool! The Travis Scott verse goes hard and it worked perfectly with our production – we knew this would be a club weapon! We’re very happy how it turned out and hope you all enjoy it!” – Isaac Palmer
How did this collaboration with Isaac Palmer come about? How has the response been to this song?
Sherm: We had been working on a few ideas and knew that we wanted to create a DJ tool that we could use in our sets. Something underground but recognizable – a track that can shift the energy and help take a set in a new direction. It’s a straight up banger and people have been loving it!
You’re coming off a huge afterparty from Lollapalooza with ACRAZE and gearing up for a massive set at North Coast Festival on the Vega Stage. What are some tips that help you prep for this caliber of shows?
Sherm: I usually create new playlists for every show filled with new music or tracks that I know will hit. While preparing, I visualize the show and use my previous experience and playlists to build upon that vision. When the show starts, I utilize the new playlist but find myself bouncing around to playlists that go back 5 years! You never know what will work until you get there to read the crowd.
Are there any surprises or songs you’re really excited to play out at North Coast this year?
Sherm: I’m going really, really, REALLY big this year. Playing 5 of my own songs and backfilling the rest of the set with jaw dropping tracks that people will not see coming. 75pm all the way up to 150bpm. 10 genres of music. Let’s go!
You’re also the A&R for DJ Susan’s Hood Politics imprint, one of the finest underground labels around. While it is a label, it doesn’t necessarily feel like one, rather a big community or family. How have you helped cultivate and shape the label to fit this aesthetic?
Sherm: You got it – that’s because it started as a community before it was a label. The foundation of Hood Politics is built upon being a fan first and never losing sight of that feeling of being in the crowd with our friends. We continue to cultivate this energy through our fans but also through each artist’s experience when they release on the label. I have come in to deliver and execute on a best-in-class service that resonates with the artist and in turn, their fans. You can just tell when an artist and a label care about the song they release. We care about every single one.
Anything else coming up that you can share with our readers and your fans at DJ LIFE MAG?
Sherm: North Coast 2023 marks a cornerstone moment for me as an artist. I can feel all of the hard work I’ve put in finally starting to pay off. The opportunities that are coming my way, the music that I’m releasing, the relationships that I’ve been cultivating. It’s an extremely exciting time to be on the cusp in dance music right now. There are endless possibilities, and we will all see the next chapter unfold over the course of the next 6 months for me, Hood Politics, and the rest of the industry.
