The entire mobile side of the DJ industry relies on Reviews. At this point, most of the sales and marketing Authority Speakers (like myself… lol) at DJX and other shows advise show attendees to make asking for a Review part of the standard after-gig follow up.

As an added bonus, positive Google Reviews will help your overall SEO as well, through their connection to your Google Business Profile. Clearly, these Reviews help both your marketing and word-of-mouth. They’re that important.

The challenge is… an individual Review can easily get lost in the shuffle. Any good mobile-DJ crew can easily collect 100-plus Reviews on Google in a couple of years, which is great for optics. A potential bride seeing a DJ company with 249 Reviews at a 4.9 average rating is going to feel comfortable in taking a closer look at your company. However, will any of those text-based listings make you stand out from your competitors? Probably not, as there’s no actual videos on Google Reviews. So, what to do?

Video helps you stand out from the crowd in multiple ways and, even though the technology to obtain video testimonials has been around for approximately six years now, it hasn’t been so user-friendly. There’s a new product on the market, though, that aims to change this – it’s called SocialJuice. We’ve started using this on our own site (see the Home page at digitalmarketingplus.com) – and we have reaped increased conversions, accordingly.

Here’s how it looks:

The layout is as a carousel, with your most recent three video testimonials being visible (the developers are going to add in sorting functionality later this year). On my site at the moment, you can see the following upfront, with others being viewable if you were to scroll through.

  • Ange from vitalisadvancehealth.ca (not a DJ… lol)
  • Tim MacMillan from The MacMillan Group, Toronto (serious multi-op)
  • Derek Panell from New England Proms (niche specialty DJ and Audio-Visual crew)

The big orange button there is prominent and prompts existing customers to leave a video testimonial of their own. Clicking on it leads you here:

As you can see, this is a specific Landing Page that SocialJuice lets you create from within their system. Everything is customizable, including the top-left logo, the image and the text pieces… even the text for the button! Design it the way you want so that it’s optimal for your customers, and makes them feel comfortable in recording a video testimonial for you.

Clicking on Record A Video Testimonial then brings you here:

Obviously, this is the screen that lets you record your actual video. When you click on Start Recording, you might be prompted to allow this website access to your computer’s camera and microphone. Just accept that request, and then go back and click Start Recording again. The system will allow the user to record up to three minutes; but my personal recommendation is to try and keep all video testimonials to 60 seconds or under (people will tune out if it’s too long). Note that the user will have the opportunity to delete the recording and start over if they aren’t happy with their first draft. Once the video is done to the user’s liking, they will have to click on Submit, which ends the video-creation journey.

At that point, the video then becomes viewable in the admin backend, which you can see here:

Each video is viewable to the Admin, and there are multiple ways to use the video, as follows:

  • Make the video viewable to the public, which automatically adds the video to your carousel as per the first image above.
  • QR code creation, to make it easy for you to guide customers to your Video Testimonial creation page (Image #2).
  • One-click direct posting of the video onto Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. (I’ve asked them about Instagram and Tik Tok.)
  • Sections to adjust Account and Space settings, including CNAME functions to create your own branded custom URL to arrive right at your very own video-creation landing page.

Video Testimonials are a huge boost to making your customers feel confident. Implementing them on your site gives your potential clients a way of intimately connecting with your past clients, and listening to them talk about how your service made their special day that much better. Digitera offers the implementation of Video Testimonials onto your current site as a service; but of course you’re free to go straight to them directly, if you’re a do-it-yourselfer. Either way, all of you DJ companies should add this feature to your websites!
